Terrlock, don't you think YOU might have had something to do with finding a job? Maybe you had skills your employer wanted? Perhaps your spouse actually fell in love with you of her own accord? They're allowed to do that, you know.

I don't think you're giving yourself or your spouse quite enough credit here.

I will tell your how I met my spouse and maybe you can explain to me how it was possible without god.

When I was a lot younger I wanted to find the perfect girl for me, the one I wanted to be with for the rest of my life. So I turned to god and asked him to help me find her.

I prayed to him for about 2 years(I'm not talking about your repetitious catholic prayers - prayer for me mean's actually talking with god)

After 2 years I got a strong gut feeling that I would meet the girl I was destined to be with in a martial arts class.

So I went about looking at some adverts for a class, it took me about six months of looking at them, and every time I would have the gut feeling not this one. I got a little impatient and wondered am I actually really feeling this or am I just somehow deluding myself and making up this sensation in my head.

So I kinda forgot about it for a little while and then one day I walked into a restaurant and seen an advert for a martial arts class and instantly I new in my gut that this is the one.

I went along to the class, thinking about how am I going to know this girl, how is it going to pan out.

first of all I was a very shy person I would not be the type to strike up a conversation. I knew that even if I seen someone I would need a lot of help at that time with courage to even ask someone out.

I went to the class and did not see her. I asked god how come she is not there, he just told me to trust him and be patient.

So I continued the class for about 3 weeks and on the 3rd week in she came.

I instantly knew somehow that this was the person I was destined to be with.

I started to get really nervous at the thought of talking with her and I was doubting my gut feelings constantly, but fighting myself to trust in them.

I asked god for the opportunity for me to talk with her. So the class continued and I didn't talk with her or interact with her in anyway.

After the class I left but as I left I wondered how the opportunity would come about that I with my lack of self confidence will be able to even talk to this person. I said to myself if this is real she will be at the bus stop that I was going to get.

Turns out she was at the bus stop and the only person from the whole class to take that bus. We instantly clicked and starting talking to each other.

Turned out that this person was living a couple of miles away from my house in the same town.

As the bus approached the town it broke down. we all had to leave the bus and walk the rest of the way home. it was late enough at night. so I walked her home which took about 3 hours.

in that time we got to know each other really well and I knew she was the one.

She only went to the class twice but a few weeks later I asked her out and she said yes, and ten years after that we got married.

God did not arrange the martial arts class or the bus breaking down.

He just helped me to be in the right place at the right time.

    Well I am confused.

My parent's met because my Dad's bike got a puncture and one of his mates thought it would be funny to give the young woman who happened to be cycling past a 'present' of a bike pump. Turned out it was my Dad's bike pump so he had to run after her to get it back.

    Was this God's plan??

It was a crap plan if it was as their marriage was a nightmare for all involved and they ended up separated...does that mean it was Satan's plan???

If I hadn't popped out for a smoke I wouldn't have met my OH - therefore God made me a smoker

That God guy is really strange isn't He. He needs things to appear improbable for Him to take the credit. Why couldn't He have just put Terrlock on a ten hour trip somewhere and have future Terrlock sitting beside him. No, instead he must inconvenience several others people by stopping a bus. I mean, it's almost as bad as those stories where it's seemingly a good thing to run over somebody's dog and kill it. Otherwise, they'd never meet. But sure, it's all ok because the couple that meet will be happy and married. Sacrifice the many to save the exception? Strange logic and working. But then, I suppose, that's why they say He works in mysterious ways.

I was unemployed for about six months. I asked the lord to help me find a job.

He said spend time with your father for a while and I'll let you know when there is a job for you.

So I did that, then one day in the morning God told me that if I apply for a job today that I will have a Job by the following Monday.

So I did, I applied for a job, got an interview on the same day and got the Job for the following Monday.

I knew 100% that morning that I would get a good job and the starting date before I even looked for it.

Could God really stop a Timelord?
Myself and my girlfriend had been living together for about 22 years, had a couple of sprogs, and then one day, out of the blue, our solicitor friend said to us 'you dudes better get married or the state will rip the kids off when you die'. So off to the registry office we popped, and here we are, happily married. Mysterious ways.

All I am doing is trying to being honest with everyone.

For me I came to know God before ever reading a Bible.

I only read the bible to try an learn more about God and it helps me interpret the world and events in which we live.

As a child, as far back as I remember (3 or so) I had a lot of faith in God. I believe unquestionably in him.

That changed however as I became a teenager and went to secondary school

I too questioned everything about God, when I was 12 I lost all faith in God.

I could not believe he existed. This was because around that time I was in secondary school and learning science and trying to make sense of physic's, biology and how everything worked together.

I felt this whole God thing just does not make any sense what so ever.

I tried for about 2 years to figure it all out and I just couldn't. everything contradicted the existence of God for me.

In my heart I did want him to exist but in my head it did not make sense.

So I prayed, I said "God, I can't believe in you, nothing make sense to me, but if you are real please answer all my questions"

I think I said that for about 2 years. Trying to believe but really just couldn't.

Then one day the school was having a retreat, there was a guy playing the guitar. It wasn't anything that they said or did, but during the music I felt what I can only describe as an overwhelming force come down on me. It instantly answered all my questions, my mind actually understood how everything works for a brief moment in time. The answers were so obvious and simple to me that I just started laughing at myself. I felt an overwhelming sense of happiness, nothing like I have ever experienced. When the force left me I could not remember the answers to the questions but I knew they were answered. It's really hard to explain this as it was just a supernatural experience. When your mind is opened up you comprehened things so much differently then when it's not.

God is there for everyone to know, he is there for everyone in a way that you probably don't even realise.

Ask him like I did and you to will come to know the Lord.

No amount of biblical, or evolutionist evidence can compare to first hand experience.

    Oh fair enough,
But given you know of a god before reading the bible, how can you be sure the bible represents the real god?

Whats to say Thor isn't the real god and you just read into the bible to suit you?

Also, I take it you were born and raised in a catholic country? For example, you didn't grow up in a all muslim country and somehow find the christian god? :)

Did you also go to a christian based school?

As for your praying to a god saying "God, I can't believe in you, nothing make sense to me, but if you are real please answer all my questions", err this makes zero sense.

For you to pray to something or anything means you must have some level of belief behind it, as your life went on this belief and things going your way allowed you to further confirm your belief. In short, people to pray to something that the believe doesn't actually exist.

It's weird how god is so focused upon Terrlock's love life and job opportunities but doesn't seem to give much of a damn about natural disasters, famine and the various different awful things that happen to people in day to day life.

Yes God has helped me get a job, also not only did he stop the rain on my wedding day he stop the rain for a whole week before it and made it one of the nicest days of the year. He also helped me to initially find the person I would marry. He also helped my partner to find a Job.

God has helped me and continues to help me in every aspect of my life.

How do I know that it is God and not just me imagining it, is down to that these things all happened in a supernatural way.

I'd be happy to go into details of these with you in private, but not going into the details of my life on a public forum.
I still have the posts after this one to read, so sorry if I am repeating anyone, but I had to respond to this.

Terrlock, can you not see the utter, utter ridiculousness of this? So you think god stopped the rain for your wedding? Do you appreciate what it actually means if he did?

Religious Person - God thank you for all the awesome things you give me, I really appreciate them, I love you. PS, all those poor people dying of famine and disease, please help them though these difficult times.
God - I would love to, but I am currently trying to stop it raining on Terrlocks wedding. Tell you what, I will have a look at the thousands of dying children after that.
Religious Person - Oh, wow. You are truly amazing god.
    God - Bugger.
Religious Person - What is it my awesome lord?
God - United are playing at 3. A couple of the players have asked me to help them score some goals… Tell you what, I will try to get to the dying kids after that, it is a really important game.

Perhaps you should start some kind of organisation that teaches people how to pray properly. Given that you are, apparently, successful in your praying for things which are, if you will forgive me, completely meaningless and insignificant in the grand scheme of things, whilst people praying for really important stuff appear to be appallingly bad at it, perhaps you could up their success rate.

Actually, here is something even better. Could you start praying for Heather Mills? I don’t particularly like her, but if you could pray for her leg to grow back that would be really great. Cos, here’s the thing, whilst I am super, super happy that the 12 year old girl you told us about regained her vision, there are too many potential problems with the story. Too much scope for mis-diagnosis. I am, however, absolutely 100% certain that Heather Mills is missing a sizable portion of her left leg. So if you could pray for her, and if her leg was “cured” I would give serious consideration to worshipping your god.
