    it's the inverse sportive geometry

    The stem has brewer's droop.

5' cyclist with 4' legs that is the weirdest geometry set up I've seen on a bike.

I still like it though ;)

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,317 ✭✭✭✭Raam

Maybe it looks better in the flesh.

If it wasn't for the stem/headset situation (eww) it mightn't be too bad.

The back wheel all the way back in the dropouts doesn't help it. Its the opposite thing you'd want to do when taking a pic promoting a bike!

    And this classic roundy crankset...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,450 ✭✭✭Harrybelafonte

It looks better in the flesh and the white/tan on the tyres doesn't really help tbh

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,514 ✭✭✭OleRodrigo

Agreed - the crankset looks like a rush job. Change that, the tyres and fit a proper stem and its OK.

    Its not fundamentally flawed.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,450 ✭✭✭Harrybelafonte

Stem can't be changed I believe. What the BMC really is is function over form. It has probably the stiffest track bars on it (3T Scatto) and arguably the stiffest and most expensive track cranks (Dura Ace). We could get into an argument about Sugino 75s now being available in black, but basically track has a limited number of options for any parts. I would not say no to one.

I'd take the hand off ya for one! No problems with the aesthetics of the cranks for me.

I literally have no idea what you mean by this... I presume you're saying "This classic crankset... drool!".

Bike's a ride (albeit in training mode; wheels look average and rear wheel is too far back in drop outs).

I love classic cranksets, for classically looking bikes.

This frameset needs one with sharp angles to match :)

Like I said. Track has limited options. Only modern crankset is the Omnium and it would look no better. Probably cheaper tbh.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,520 ✭✭✭Alek

Black Omnium + Sugino Zen would look better. Anyone with photoshop skills? :D

No but 30 seconds in mspaint and it's already looking better. You'll have to squint.

I think you're all missing the point
    why?
    title of thread:images of ugly

is it ugly cause there are no better options/limited options? maybe
is it ugly cause it's function over form: maybe

do either of them stop it being ugly? nope.

similarily i think some the tri bikes people here hate are actually beautiful for what they do, most hate them though

function over form doesn't make a bike beautiful if you are judging it on pure visual criteria

Don't think that's bad at all. A million times nicer than a Cervelo or Dogma
