    Azerbaijan shudda won:(

If Dilara wants to take part again, then she might be better off representing a country that lies to the west of hers... :o:D;)

Probably should have got money on Austria after the semi when the odds were good. I'll be sick as a parrot if they win now.

    Bollocks!

Although I'm a jinx so if had put down something they probably wouldn't have won.

Now now ,lets not be so hasty ,Azerbaijan gave Ireland 10 points in the dress rehearsal for the final ...despite us not being in it .

Its so funny, they were supposed to give 10 points to Armenia but they wouldnt as they hate them.

So...we weren't even in the final and we got more points than france? :D

These jury results absolutely disgust me, Austria last and Sweden second last? Russia and Belarus 1st and 2nd? Azerbaijan should be kicked out for good not just a year or two, not even 'musical professionals' can be trusted there it seems.

    http://www.eurovision.tv/page/results?event=1893&voter=AM

Armenia are just as bad, almost worse in my opinion. Their jury knew they were favourites to win from the start and as a result placed all the contenders near the bottom to count out the Televotes. Do the EBU investigate things like this?

From a quick sift through of the detailed results looks like Poland would have came very close to winning if votes were solely based on televoters, but Azerbaijan and Armenia's jury votes are ridiculous and something should be done about that. Didn't realise till now that San Marino's votes were 100% based on the jury vote with no televote.

Happy enough Austria won, would have liked if Netherlands had but glad they ranked highly. Their song kind of reminded me of rock n' roll kids in how it was stripped back and is the kind of thing I hope Ireland go for next year

    01. Austria 311
    02. The Netherlands 222
    03. Armenia 193
    04. Sweden 190
    05. Poland 162
    06. Russia 132
    07. Switzerland 114
    08. Ukraine 112
    09. Romania 103
    10. Hungary 98
    11. Belarus 56
    12. Iceland 46
    13. Denmark 43
    14. Greece 43
    15. Spain 41
    16. Norway 39
    17. Finland 39
    18. Montenegro 33
    19. Italy 32
    20. Germany 31
    21. United Kingdom 29
    22. Azerbaijan 26
    23. San Marino 18
    24. Malta 17
    25. Slovenia 15
    26. France 1

Poland and Switzerland the big climbers under 100% televote. Shocked that the juries harmed Finland so much. Spain and Norway gained due to jury presence.

    Thanks for the link.

So the Irish public voted to give Poland douze points but thanks to our jury they got none! It's out of order that...

While I think the song that won was good, would it have won if he shaved? Far too much of a political statement for me and I think the stigma of tolerance carried them over the line.

If you dont give them 12 you are a homophobe. This was very much the case with norton predicting that the georgians, ukrainians et al would give austria nothing.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,477 ✭✭✭grenache

And funny thing is that Georgia & Ukraine, those bastions of liberalism, gave Conchita 8 and 10 points respectively.

I'm more annoyed by tonight's result than previous years because the winning song was placed first not on merit, but purely for political motives. People really wanted to give the two fingers to Russia - and were encouraged to do so - particularly during the first two semi finals. The presenters continually claiming that this is "a show of diversity where everyone is welcome". "Orientation is irrelevant". If Austria's had actually been the best song, then I'd have no objection.

But it clearly was not. The Dutch entry deserved to win. And I would have placed Iceland, Malta, UK, Spain, Armenia, Slovenia, Sweden and Norway all above Conchita's Phoenix.

Austria, you are victorious in the political voting.

But Netherlands, you won the popular vote.

The song was $hite of the worst kind. Contender for worst Eurovision lyrics ever. The show they put on was just unadulterated porn. They got exactly what they deserved.

That's crazy...I can't believe how much they hate each other that someone would refuse to say the other countries name.

I'm surprised the organisers haven't put an end to this. There must be plenty of money in Azerbaijan or are they afraid of the Russian influence and don't want to get sucked in to politics.

I thought Conchita was a well deserved winner and from having spoken to her before I think she really deserved it.

    Well done her.

Agree with ye there, the hand gestures and all, very risqué.

I put 2 euros on Austria to win at 3 to 1. Last of the big spenders. Would have been whistling my way to the bookies if Switzerland had won though - had put a euro on them to win at 80/1!

Sure there's a tradition of risqué going back over 30 years to Bucks Fizz with the skirt ripping, and probably beyond. All part of the fun. Exchange of cultures and all that.

Anything to do with hand gestures though is probably more down to your own particular interpretation. ;)

all your opinion to be honest.

Austria had a good song performed brilliantly fair enough if it wasn't your cup of tea but I just don't know how people cant accept it won.

I wasn't gone on the whole in your face beard thing either but I tried to judge the thing on merit and overall I felt it was a worthy winner. and this is coming from someone who voted 5 times for Iceland!

was disappointed they didn't finish higher. the mad ba$tards
