    Nice one.

Looks like a mid eighties Cressida to me.

    Cedric was a Nissan.

Are them mirrors on the bonnet any good even? Surely not the best place for side mirrors.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

It's why wing mirrors are so called sure :)

    Typical of Japanese spec saloons.

Is it just me or does anyone else think they look absolutely brutal though

    You're not wrong.

I was struck by their prevalence on so many cars (not just your Crown Comforts and Cedis and the like) when I was in Japan last year.

I can't comment on their apparent improved functionality over door-mounted mirrors having never driven a car with them. Can anyone?

They surely decrease pedestrian safety as well.

Yeah there's usually one parked near my apt in NY that I see most days and I just hate the sight of it.

Co Cavan, not very old but a great car in its day.

Great car as right. Que for the bar stool experts to say how they drank more oil than petrol (I owned one back in the day and while you would want to keep an eye on the oil its downright far from the reality that they drank it like the new time).

Owned a 1.6 Carina E before it and I would say the 1.6 VVTI Avensis I had after it was a much more refined, smoother and well mannered car on the road. Also drove the T250 Avensis that came after in 1.6 guise. It felt lethargic and lacklustre by comparison but the 1.8 or 2.0 was probably badly needed there.

Not too many of them surviving alright. Most have dissolved at this stage.
Didn't look in too bad nick in the flesh either.

It's a bit beaten, but it looks like it's being used daily. So fair dues for that.

I love that though. Something that shows its battle cars rather than something tarted up to the nines.

I'd reckon on the wing is a better position as they are always in your line of sight.

I nearly bought a red 323f 20 years ago. Couldn’t get insurance on 1.5 at the time
(Even though it was only about 80bhp)
