Spotted in Tuam this evening 97 Fiat Cinquecento and 98 Daihatsu Terios. Sorry about the quality
I hate this time of year trying to photo cars in the dark. I tried using the flash but it made it worse

I love those petrol pumps beside the road like that. d'Fecking EU finished a lot of those back in the 90s I remember but I filled up at a similar one today.

Don't like the ones with the big steel cap over them and the obligatory plaza with lots of parking spaces, coin operated washing machines, a Spar/McDonalds and several other sh1tfood eateries and when you rock up to pay and say '40 petrol' there's a confused chungwan behind the counter in a shiny uniform asking you which pump it is. Feck that sh1t. And don't get me started on pre-pay/card-only pumps. Hate the sight of those khoonts of those yokes.

There's a great filling station in Goleen I think it where you have to go into the pub to pay and it's just beside the road like the one above. This is the way it should be. Would love to see those big ugly celtic tiger plaza filling station monstrosities torn down and turned back into farmland.

    /rant

There's a nice one on the footpath up in monivea in galway. Cookes it's called. You have to go into the bakery to pay. Apple tarts and crumble are unbelievable.

Jap import or not? Can't figure that out.

The wing mirror would indicate to me that it is a jap import alright.

Cool photos. That is a very west-of-Ireland-looking scene

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,889 ✭✭✭selectamatic

I'd say definitely a jap import. A lwb with the big wind deflectors all round are a tell tale sign.

Tom Regan 4x4 and tractor sales in Frenchpark brought in and sold loads of them during the 90's. There were a number of others at it too.

He probably brought that one in.

Wing mirrors, wind reflectors, square rear number plate and "modular" rims all shout "Jap Import" .

Maybe an exceed model?.... nearly bought one 15 years ago to scratch an itch, looked at a few and most had an aftermarket 12in knurled wood steering wheel, matched with a leaking sunroof, and very bald all terrain tyres.

Best one I seen had a sticker in the glovebox with a safety pass for the Burj al arab in Dubai...built early 90s.

    100% an import Pajero.

Monsoon Deflectors, Jap Mirror on the front etc...

Biggest tell tale is a Shogun has rectangle lights on the bumper, A Pajero doesn't. :)

Tis also only a 2.5 as the 2.8 had a bonnet scoop.

Jap imports also had the indicators incorporated into the rear light cluster. Irish/UK ones had them separate to the cluster in the bumper.

    It really is lovely.
I recently bought a 93 SWB Jap Pajero that needs a bit of a tidy and a few mechanicals but not too bad overall.

You often got some pretty strange English language graphics on them too.
A neighbouring farmer had a Pajero import with "Land Power Wagon"
    down the sides.

Let's muddy the waters further - here's a pajero with bumper lights :D

    [IMG][/img]paj1.jpg

    [IMG][/img]paj2.jpg

It's Irish with true Irish spec, no a/c, no lsd/locker. I didn't even know they could come without an lsd/locker until I found this one in a field in tipperary.

Still, a fantastic jeep - they can't be beat.

Weird! That shouts Shogun to me, That style 2 tone paint, Rear lights/bumper, No chrome etc....

Is it in KMH or MPH?

Sorry for the off topic but I'm a bit of Pajero nerd, Have a '94 2.8 Auto Exceed. :)

Had a few myself, they're class, this is the oddest one though

It's an Irish sold Pajero, odd spec compared to Shoguns or Jap pajeros, but similar to Oz built ones (apart from they all had a/c of course)

MPH clocks, E/windows, No a/c, no lsd/locker, single battery,(had) adjustable dampers, 4d56t with intercooler

No idea what this is, seen in Dorset St today.

Cartell says it's a 1.1 Escort if the reg if MZO, an 'ERF' if MZD.

    Guess it's a replica of this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erskine_(automobile)

I'm sure enough thats just one of those replica vintage wedding cars, based on an Escort chassis

On another note, I'm in London at the moment and for the foreseeable future. I won't flood this thread with pictures, but want to make an exception for this and with good reason I think. While I'm here some Irish nuns have lent me this to get me around the place. 145k on the clock, but it wears it's miles very well!

That's very interesting given the reg seems to belong to a truck (ERF).

Given the number is 27 as well on the reg seems a tad fortuitous.

It's a 1978 Dublin reg. so probably imported around that time and booked the number.

Possibly a mistake in the tax office regarding the make.

In those days the books were written in biro and errors occurred.

I posted one last week of a Silver Shadow that was listed Make- Rolls Model -Royce.

    Anyway the car is genuine.

Ah sure I know how lax these things are.
You'd wanna see the state of my logbook for the Carina.

Jap Fans will be able to tell me what this is, but it looked ( and sounded) great!
Got away before I saw the reg number. Kells.
    Carina? Cressida? Cedric?
