had a cow calved one evening last week, brought eldest lad with me to stand in gap when taking her out, all was grand and i had them halfway out the gap when this lunatic cow came for me:eek: yelled at young lad to move- which he did:D- ended up having to bring 2 cows up as second cow thought calf was hers. So this morning i wanted to take calf off cow, brought real mother into parlour and *itch stayed outside with calf, i ran in the calf and she came after, got calf off her and let her back out. Ten minutes later i went out to stomach tube calf born during the night and the *itch went for me:eek::eek::eek: i left the stomach tube in the field and ran like fook:D

"In the beginning was the land. Shortly there after was the father. He owned the land. He plowed it, planted it and harvested it. He owned it and in turn the land owned the father. Everything the father did revolved around nurturing the land. It had been the fathers father and the father before that. Without the land there was no family...Not owning land was an affliction too embarrassing for comment, like being cross eyed or feeble minded or not fearing God.

Stewardship of land ( no matter the size ) is a great honor and no one takes that more to heart than The Farmer.

Excerpt from "run with horseman" by author Ferrol Sams

daughter brought blackberries-the fruit- into school yesterday, she brought 1 for everyone in her class, she picked them with her grandad the evening before when getting the cows. They each had a blackberry in front of them and read the Seamus Heaney poem blackberries and then ate them:) thought it was a good idea by the teacher

We you trying to stomach tube the calf in a field at night, with the cow beside her? I'd be dead 20 times over every spring if I chanced that.

Got the disease screening report there from the coop. Says ive a high positive for stomach worms. All the winter ones were dosed at dry off for fluke and worms. Should i bother doing them all seeing as half the spring ones will be dried off in a month?
