We will agree to disagree, but I for one believe that firstly the whole thing is not an act, they are as odd in real life as they are "in character", and secondly that if given the chance to swap the daily grind and **** I have gotten up to in the past in return for their money, their lifestyle, their life, I wouldn't touch it. There isn't much that is not worth the money, but their life certainly is not.

Well a battery hen is reluctant to go outside after a while, too.

By 'them' I assume you mean people in that posters imagination.

We have no idea what Jedwards lives are like, and less idea of whether or not they're happy with their lives. Gotta say, whenever they've shown on my radar they seem delighted with themselves.

by them I mean people who "act" like they act

Any interview I have seen with them seems to claim they have no interest in neither women nor men and consider themselves outcasts due to their off kilter music tastes. Unless this line is part of their PR act I would tend to believe it.

You say they don't live the life of a typical 22 year old? Ask any 22 year old coming out of college and facing the prospect of having to move half way across the world to get a job, would they like to be rich and famous, no talent required.

22 years old. Shag half of Sweden and Canada while backpacking the far East or be a millionaire sharing a bed with your twin brother.

Personally I'd sooner live in a cardboard box getting by on memories of the good old days but each to their own.

Personally I would prefer the mix of a sane mind and their millions, but I think being offered money like that on a plate would turn me into another Best or Gazza quite frankly. The devil pours pints for idle hands.

I know the family of the two lads fairly well, and these lads are very clever boys indeed...all that stuff on stage and TV is just an act, they don't really act like that

and regards there sexuality who cares that's their own business

i'd probably be the same to be honest, but perhaps not as talented:cool:

jedward on the other hand have probably milked it dry, but it must be exhausting for them to act like kids every day, i really do not believe they carry on that way in real life.

Seem to do a lot of good. Also visit a lot of sick people, children and so on, making them quite happy tbh. Fair play to them.

So did Jimmy Savile - look how that turned out!

It's disheartening that almost every time any criticism or negative comment is made about a celebrity or someone in the public eye how the "charity" defence is invoked to shield them from further scrutiny.

So what if they raise a lot of money for charity? It is a carefully contrived exercise to keep their names in the public eye and it is usually of greater benefit to the celebrity than to any charitable cause.

ya, but in all fairness none of us know what they're really like when they're off stage away from the TV camera and public eye, its just an act most of the time

    I do!

    They are the very same.

And you're wrong about the parents: they were already wealthy before the twins went on x-factor.

I hope they've saved their shekels if their fame trip is over, their wholesomeness for the kids is more than likely just an image for their youthful fanbase, they're probably no different to most 21 year olds.

Hi, I accidentally came across this post and I felt I should share my point of view as a Jedward fan (yes, I'm not ashamed to say it out loud) so you have a bit of diversity in the thread. If you're not interested, feel free to scroll down.

Everybody has their own opinion, and of course you can dislike the twins, I won't try to convince you otherwise, I'm not here to try to make fans out of you, because I really dislike a lot of celebs and I wouldn't like to have anybody trying to force me to like them, but to just give you another perspective and clear some things up.

I won't comment on the personal life questions, because as all of you, I don't know how they are in private. I'm not bothered by their sexual life either, so I don't really care if they're straight, gay or bi. I only see a bit sad how the "normal 22 year old" should be the guy who does drugs, have sex with everybody, etc, as someone commented earlier (I'm 26 and at 22 that's precisely the kind of guys I avoided). They've chosen a clean living, and they talk about it in their interviews, I don't see what's so wrong with not drinking, etc. It should be praised as it's a great example to their target demographic, which is mainly teens.

As I said I don't know how they are in private, but I know how they behave with people when there are not cameras around, and they're genuinely nice with people, even with non-fans (because it's obvious a singer is gonna be nice to their fans). People who randomly meet them or have worked with them always refer to them as "really polite and lovely" and they rarely say "no" to signing an autograph or posing for a photo.

About the charity work, they really collaborate with the ISPCC as someone mentioned, they were bullied in the school, so they know how important is to have someone who can protect you in those kind of situations. But apart from that, that can be seen as a publicity stunt for some, they visit children hospitals from time to time.
Some months ago they had a radio interview somewhere in Ireland (Limerick maybe? I can't remember) and fans were waiting for them, wondering why they weren't there yet. Some minutes later a photo popped up on Twitter, a girl saying that Jedward had visited her younger sister at the hospital, and a picture of the twins with the little girl. Some more pics appeared later of different people in the hospital. There weren't newspapers covering it, they didn't tweet about it either, and they didn't even mentioned it in the interview later. We knew it because the families of the kids and some of the hospital nurses tweeted about it, if not, it would have gone unnoticed.
    Nevermind, found the tweet: https://twitter.com/SaoirseDalton/status/357848813597237248

Their music, as everything, is a matter of taste. They do have good songs, spite of the general believing (the fun up-tempo pop has never been my thing to be honest) but they're still working to improve. They're now song-writing for their next album, they can play some musical instruments, etc. They're not as talentless as everybody thinks, and their 1st priority is music, they've rejected some offers recently to appear in some reality shows because they are getting ready to tour Australia in November.

They always try to be positive spite of getting loads of sh*t and they've never insulted anyone in public. They just do their thing and try to make the people who like them happy. So I don't really get the personal attacks. If you don't like them it's OK, but what's the point of slagging them off?

So that's it, I'm sorry for the huge post and the grammar mistakes (English is not my native language) and for butting in basically, because you probably don't care at all about John and Edward's careers, but it's always interesting to have a bit of feedback :) Cheers!

I think those twins are smarter than anyone gives them credit for.

They're obviously playing to type/hype and are smart enough not to rock the boat. The whole asexual thing is what makes them appealing to their target market - there's no overt sexuality so the parents believe them to be wholesome, and the pre-teen audience isn't threatened by a masculinity they don't yet understand. It's the same reason an early Take That were holding hands and looking like gormless asexual worms at the height of their '90s fame. The little comments about sharing beds and the impassive expressions are only partly ingenuous imo, they know their market, they know how to play it.

Lets face it, Jedward have made a minimum of talent go a maximum distance, have earned considerably more at the age of 22 than the vast majority of their peers, have travelled extensively at their record companies expense, are household names, and will likely be financially set for life by the time their 15 minutes of fame are finally expended.

At an age when so many are living with the twin torments of the dole office and student debt, these boys are making the most of what they have and I would imagine they read comments like those on this thread, then laugh all the way to the bank.

Well lets hope when they do read some of the insults posted on this thread(not yours)that they do have a good laugh about it.

Spite of not being from the UK or Ireland, I know perfectly how Jedward are seen over there so I was expecting this kind of reaction, it doesn't annoy me.
You'd be surprised to know the demographic of their fans outside those 2 countries.

Used as cash cows, like very singer you mean? One direction have earned over 1 billion, yet are barely millionaires, I imagine jedward are doing quite well for themselves.

Indeed, they certainly seem to be able to take care of themselves and get what they want, but apparently they're cringeworthy. Not my thing but well done to them, they are childrens entertainment.

Seem to do a lot of good. Also visit a lot of sick people, children and so on, making them quite happy tbh. Fair play to them.

the above could have been written for jimmy savile - he turned out to be a great lad

They've chosen a clean living, and they talk about it in their interviews,
That doesn't mean a whole lot, all celebrities know how to play the media game and tell the cameras and any fans they come across exactly what they want to hear.

Overall I know nothing about Jedward, I don't care what they do or how much money they make. Their a product that I have no interest in.

It's more of a shame when people do good things and are dragged through the dirt because of unrelated dead bastard.
They rarely mention most of the charity stuff tbh. Nobody said "omg they do charity work they are the bestest dont critique them". The point is that they are doing what they want and not in "need of help" as others suggested.
