It is a funny thought mind, if they were not famous, how would they attain income? Like, they are clearly completely unsuitable for any type of regular working environment in any field, can you imagine fellow staff wanting to share a workspace with those pair of hyper gob****es. Would the government just give them dole for the next 50 years on the grounds that they are too weird to have anyone employ them? Like, ten years ago they would not have had a career. Society has only become so openly accepting to throwing money and attention at talentless cocks in the last four or so years (Kardashians, Geordie Shore, Jersey Shore, Only Way is Essex etc etc). And no, boybands don't count. The music might not be your bag but most of them usually had at least one or two members who could sing. And fair enough, Big Brother has been on TV 13 odd years but very few of the contestants or winners lasted more than a few months in the public eye before the great unwashed got bored of them. This crap is worth more and has more longevity these days.

I think those twins are smarter than anyone gives them credit for.

They're obviously playing to type/hype and are smart enough not to rock the boat. The whole asexual thing is what makes them appealing to their target market - there's no overt sexuality so the parents believe them to be wholesome, and the pre-teen audience isn't threatened by a masculinity they don't yet understand. It's the same reason an early Take That were holding hands and looking like gormless asexual worms at the height of their '90s fame. The little comments about sharing beds and the impassive expressions are only partly ingenuous imo, they know their market, they know how to play it.

Lets face it, Jedward have made a minimum of talent go a maximum distance, have earned considerably more at the age of 22 than the vast majority of their peers, have travelled extensively at their record companies expense, are household names, and will likely be financially set for life by the time their 15 minutes of fame are finally expended.

At an age when so many are living with the twin torments of the dole office and student debt, these boys are making the most of what they have and I would imagine they read comments like those on this thread, then laugh all the way to the bank.

I have that tape. Lost 27 pounds in a month doing his dance tapes.

I'd check down the back of the sofa.

But would you rather be a typical 22 year old lad? Or would you rather be the Jedward boys. Filthy rich, but with no real friends, no normal social life, no experience with women whatsoever, and likely never will, no....nothing basically. As said their only interest that is shared by the general male public is a taste for football and console games. Apart from that all they have is their bubble lifestyle and a big bank balance. Real life can be a downer at times but I wouldn't trade it for a second to be in their shoes. Whether they eventually crack or whether they are so mentally out there they can live in blissful happy ignorance of all that they have missed out on remains to be seen.

None of us knows what their private life is like, only what we're told it's like.

I think there's more to the story than meets the eye, as has always been the case with apparently squeaky clean teen idols. I wouldn't presume to know their state of mind or lifestyle beyond their public facade.

Perhaps it's a little harsh. I'm referring to their public personae rather than the actual people though.

Yeah they must be in their early 20s by now, they still look about 12 though.

Its just a bit weird grown men jumping around the place like fools.

You mustn't have been around when Kenny was elected Taoiseach so.

that must make it difficult for the straight one
    Is that you Louis Walsh?

I like them Simon, I think they will go places

Very easy target for people to hate.

At the end of the day they make kids happy, and could probably retire tomorrow and not have to work a day the rest of their lives with the money they've made, while I grind on for the next 40 years or so. Fair play to them.

You have to hand it to them. They got an opportunity, they grabbed it with both hands, used, milked it for all it's worth, came through the other side and arguably did even better. After dozens of series of Pop Idol / X Factor / Britains Got Talent / The Voice / Fame Academy and god knows what else, literally thousands have had the opportunity to use the platform and very few have as successfully as those two.

I think they are exceptionally smart. Unlike twats who think they are "Artists", say Matt Cardle and the other ones who think they can get involved with the TV Talent Show system and "beat it", Jedward have seen it for what it is, played all the positives and avoided the negatives. They "Get It".

As for Louis Walsh, I don't think he actually "manages" anyone since Westlife. He just collects his commission.

Have any evidence to back up their no friends / social life / virginity?

You say they don't live the life of a typical 22 year old? Ask any 22 year old coming out of college and facing the prospect of having to move half way across the world to get a job, would they like to be rich and famous, no talent required.

Possible career in spandex modelling if they don't make it into jack and his giant stalk at Christmas with twink.

i'm pretty sure they've already had jacks giant stalk, as they are in fact twinks.

I would doubt it. I would also scratch what I said earlier. They may be **** but I do nevertheless feel sorry for them. The things that, because of their utter weirdness, they will never experience. Social norms like sex, getting pissed up with mates (while I've seen them latch on to a few female has been celebrities I doubt they have any male friends, they seem completely reliant on each other alone), a lads holiday, appreciating good music, taking their first pill. None of this exists in their world because they are tucked up in bed, possibly together, by nine o clock. The only one thing they seem to have in common with the average Joe is that they like football, apart from that they are on a completely different planet to normal living. It is a sad waste of life, really, all that money and they haven't lived a day in the real world.

This, I don't get. I don't particularly like Jedward, they'd generally annoy me, listening to them, but I can't understand this pure hatred that some people have for them. Like, why are they **** exactly? Bizarre.

And for the rest of the post, I am sure they are having a great time. If they're happy, what difference does it make if they aren't doing 15 shots of sambuca at the bar, scoring some girl and puking in their living room, like the "rest of us".

I am sure if they wanted to, they'd have plenty of girls hoping up on them.

    I can't believe I am defending Jedward :(

They're 22 and they're probably set for life, that's enough to make them **** in a lot of peoples eyes.

I feel sorry for those two kids. There's clearly a bit of mental illness and they've been used as cash cows. They're emotionally children, and that is not right at their age. Can you imagine how creepy they'll be as old men
Someone should be looking out for them now before it's too late.

funnily enough i could see them being similar to louis walsh at that age, the campness i mean..

Ah, i'd say they're mopping up in fairness.
If they're not, well then maybe they're the imbeciles you suggest!

By 'them' I assume you mean people in that posters imagination.

We have no idea what Jedwards lives are like, and less idea of whether or not they're happy with their lives. Gotta say, whenever they've shown on my radar they seem delighted with themselves.

They are arrogant. It might be funny if they knew they were ****e but they actually reckon they are a seriously talented act. I remember Johnny Logan, another high calibre wanker, and Jedward got into a war of words basically slagging each other off as talentless (Logan is a twat, but at least he can sing and won Eurovision back when you had sound somewhat decent to win it). I just think they have some neck to respond when someone calls them out.

I think any girl within three years of the legal age would be mortified to be within their presence, so I doubt it.

    Maybe they are.

Eccentric old women who live in a filthy house with 12 cats for company are probably happy in their own world as well. Doesn't make it a particularly advisable way to live.

We will agree to disagree, but I for one believe that firstly the whole thing is not an act, they are as odd in real life as they are "in character", and secondly that if given the chance to swap the daily grind and **** I have gotten up to in the past in return for their money, their lifestyle, their life, I wouldn't touch it. There isn't much that is not worth the money, but their life certainly is not.

Apparently they are not getting laid and *never will*. If they aren't its because they don't want to for sure.

As for what they would have done years ago. Salesmen. Fashion. Wedding planning. They have shown a talent for self promotion.

I get the impression that when they go back into their hotel rooms after bopping around all day the mask is off and they have a 3 hour overview of the day meticulously reviewed and analysed.

Very few people with so little talent in their original field survive as long as these guys. They, or somebody for them - maybe Louie - are keeping them in the public eye, arranging photo ops, turning up on celebrity programmes, getting in the paper. That takes work. It will die down now but not before they will have earned more money than most people's entire lifetime earning by far. There is somebody working things. If its them they are smarter than most.
