Very true. If I wasn't low on cash this week I'd revert back to my old habit of hitting up Forbbiden Planet's manga section before trotting to the Yamamori for some sushi while I read. :D
Also slightly off topic: Has anyone here actually been to Japan? If so, what's it like?

I was there for 19 days last November.
    It was unbelievably AWESOME.
And the Japanese are wonderful, helpful, polite, respectful people.

Japan is incredible, the best food I've ever eaten, everything there is awesome. Nothing really impresses you after being there though :p

Been there 6 times now & plan to retire there eventually. I love it but then I'm biased.

Only ever had one bad incident - racist behaviour from one member of the missus' family - but that was years ago and the offender is pretty much in Coventry ever since.

Yes, it's awesome. Of course, depends what you find awesome? The neon skyline of Tokyo? The serenity of Miiya Jima? The tropical vibe of Okinawa? But that's a topic for the Japan forums, I guess :D

    All of it.
    Everything.
From the Kyoto shrines to Akihabara and everything in between. :D

I'd try go for something completely different, that way you won't be trying to compare it to FMA. a different genre

    ever seen Monster?

    I haven't no,worth a go?

Very, VERY worth a go. It's a dark, brooding thriller and the style is much more real-world than FMA or the like.

it's also one of the highest rated anime on MyAnimeList

so yeah, give it a go ;)

    You have a wife

    I thought you were younger.

In other news, I watched the new episode of Attack on Titan.

Wow the shows a cokc/vaigna tease. Although, I think the artwork has improved in this episode.

Was pretty obvious who it was,
when you note the Female titan had a similar fighting style and the covering of the neck.

Really though, all these predictable "THINGS ALWAYS GO WRONG" is getting really tiring...

Know what would be unpredictable ? If they, for once, win.

stick some spoilers in there :p

is this a continuing series, or does it have a definite series length?

Episode 25 is where the manga is currently at, so basically.... we don't know. Manga will have to run on for a bit, we might not see season 2 for about 2 years.

I don't mind that things always go wrong, and to be fair there was the part where
    Eren sealed the gate
, so it's not completely fail. I just think they're dragging things out a wee bit,

He does have a good point. Now, I'm going to take the chance and get writerly

It isn't a suprising momentum if it's a constant dirge. There has to be some kind of emotional pay off, and yet there actually hasn't. The eren sealing actually came out of the blue a little, and their wasn't much foreshadowing.

I'm going to go into spoilers here to show how the show has played the pacing badly. I'll be covering awesome moments that kind of fizzled out and moments that had uplifting foreshadowing, but, again, turned bad.
The Mikasa moment was great, and then Levi stopped her.

The finding out that Eren could turn into a powerful titan was great, and then a new titan popped into it.

The scene where the three soldiers was uplifting and great and then it jarred to a halt.

The scene where they captured the female Titan came so close to being a strong emotional payoff. But then, in a scene that verged on Deux Ex Machina, that dissapeared.

Hell, I'm not even including character foreshadowing payoffs. But, I think the pacing is just weird tbh. It's not really suprising, it's more, just, badly done.

Has anybody read Game of Thrones? There have been some awesome emotional payoff in both character and action. Of course, there are some truly awful events afterwards, and the good events can lead to awful events, but the actual event itself doesn't suddenly turn bad.

Do you know what I mean?

Watched alot of the Manga production OVA's growing up such as Akira, Devilman, Street Fighter, Battle Angel Alita etc that used to be on Channel Six back in the day.

I'v watched a few series since then but the only series I'm currently interested in is Berserk where I'v read the Manga (Chapter 334 is WAAY overdue) and watched the old series and the new movies that have been out.

I'v been to Japan as well, id love to go back over even for a holiday at somepoint.

the places is always pretty dead, so it doesn't encourage people to check back regularly. but on the upside, this thread has already inspired another over there, so hopefully we can use this thread to springboard a bit more interest in the Anime & Manga forum ;)

So! Now that the last episode of Attack on Titan is out (until next season), what did people think?

oh, seeing as I've been rabbiting on about Monster, here's a fan trailer someone did in the style of the remake of Girl With The Dragon Tattoo trailer

I used to be a HUGE anime and manga fan in high school. I think the anime series du jour was Samurai X. I loved it...then I discovered boys. The end.
