And slow down Intercity services even more with a stop barely outside Heuston?

    Absolutely not.

Where are most intercity users going? The city centre, not Heuston. It would benefit more people than it would inconvenience.

As an intercity-city centre commuter I want to stay on the fast train for as long as possible, rather than having to get on a stopping train all the way through Kildare. Might as well just stay on the intercity and get the tram in that case.

Besides, long term line speed improvements will gain that time back.

Is the LUAS not an option for that surely?

Anyone going to anywhere west of O’Connell Bridge would find Heuston & LUAS the better option.

Stopping an Intercity service just as it starts is anything but good practice.

Its not unheard of. And given our railway's specific limitations I think its a sensible idea.

Add an easy Connolly/Pearse transfer to the Intercity service and it becomes more attractive and useful to people.

Workable stop gap while we await DU.

The intercity trains need to be faster, instead have a shuttle train to Connolly.
Will Heuston have any services to GCD ever and what station will off peak ppt services terminate at, Hazelhatch/Newbridge.
