    Inferno Rises
    7th of September
    XGC
    AEv2012 (Single & 2v2 Teams), MvC3, IGAU

    Schedule - subject to change
1pm - Registration Desk opens. This will be upstairs.
Casual setups available for all games that people bring copies of the game

    1.30pm - IGAU & MVC3 starts.

    3pm - AE Pools Starts

    5pm - AE Top 16 Starts

    6pm - AE Teams Starts

    Price:
    Venue Entry: €5

    Tournaments:
    AE Singles: €5
    AE Teams: €5 (per team)
    UMvC3: €5
    IGAU: €5

Super Saver: €20 (Entry to venue & all Tournaments)

20% of the total take (Less Venue fee) will go into the community fund - A new standard that I think all events should follow.

This tournament is being run with the help of the XGC. We are trying to work together with them and they are facilitating. There will be casuals at this event as well. We will have the use of enough machines for casuals but we will need to bring copies of the games.

    Stream
We are hopeful of streaming this event. If we can it will be up on http://www.twitch.tv/brianvondoom.

    Poster
Poster is currently being designed and should be ready soon.

    Tournament Rules and Format.

MvC3 tournaments are double elimination. AE will be pools followed by top 16 in double elimination. Each match will consist of 3 games with each game beings best of 3 rounds, except for UMvC3 & IGAU, which will be best of 5. If one player wins the first 2 games the third game is not played. Any game with with a different rule set will be played according to its tournament standard type.
All grand finals will be 3/5 if that is not the standard tournament type.
Players who placed in top 8 in the prior 3 DoCs or Infernos (where applicable) will be seeded accordingly. All others will be randomly seeded.

    1. All characters are useable, but if you require DLC characters, please make that known prior to your match.

    2. Custom controllers and button configuration is allowed.

    3. Turbo is banned. Anyone who is caught using this feature will be disqualified.

    4. Players can change characters in each round of the double elimination phase. However once a match has started they may only change characters in a match after loosing a set. The winner of the first set must stick to his character he started the set with and may only change if he looses the second set, in which case the winner of the second set must then stick to the character he used in the second set. In UMvC3, orders of characters may be changed, but assist types may not.

    5. Double Blind select available in the event of people being concerned about counter picking. An admin will assist with this if required.

    6. Rock, paper, scissors is used in the event of people being unable to agree on which side they want to sit on.

    7. In the event of a player pausing a game during a round or his stick/pad fails during a round, he forfeits the round unless both players agree to carry on. If there is a dispute an admin will resolve the dispute. This includes pausing during cinematic supers/hypers, except in the case of a character death being guaranteed by the super/hyper.

    8. In the event of a game ending in a draw, the game will scrapped and not counted towards the results. It will then be replayed. (Though it will be pretty damn hype.)

    9. Players who are overly disruptive during a competition or who are distracting other players can be removed from the tournament at the discretion of the tournament admins.

    10. No white track suits please & TO's word is final is all disputes.

what help are the xgc giving for this event and how is this tournament any different from any other event we have organised in there?

because I contacted the xgc about a partnership and since then nutriant has been talking to them and was supposed to set up a meeting to go down there to talk to the boss, but ive heard nothing? have you guys spoke to them since?

    ban request :p

Pm me and I can fill you in if you like. Those meetings you are referring to have not only already taken place, but I was at them. Like I said, PM if you need to know something.

Are you gonna come?.... missed you at DoC.

Too bright & distracting for the guy sitting beside you, therefore unfair advantage.

All other colours & Ryu cosplay are accepted however :pac:

It's a long running joke in the Irish FGC (while being completely serious).

One of our players had a habit of attending tournaments in white tracksuits and would then join us as we'd look for a pub/restaurant after to eat/ drink in.

We'd then spend half a night wandering around getting gradually more pissed off as no pub in Dublin will allow someone in in a white tracksuit.

Ajay i am the one who got in contact with the xgc in the first place to organise events in there, but not just organise events because we have been doing that for years, i was in the process of building a partnership with them and then all of a sudden you guys are having secret meetings and not having the decency to include me, After i was the one who initiated first contract with them about a partnership and got them to want to meet with us in the first place to discuss business, you think that xgc page on the website is there for fun?

why was i not told about a meeting especially after i posted in the thread that nutrient made?

...and you think this is the correct forum for discussion on that? Either pm me, email me, phone me or arrange to meet me directly and I will explain why you weren't informed.

Yes, this thread is not the place for that at all Chunkis.

I always say I don't mind off topicing, but I do when someone is trying to achieve something. This is the case here.

I'm leaving AJ's response there so you know what to do.

Can we please run Injustice on Xbox. The PS3 loading times are unquestionably worse.

A lot of the Injustice lads are PS3 pad players so it would be kind of unfair forcing them to use converters because of lag and all that.

It's the players responsibility to ensure they're able to play on whatever console is chosen. I paid nearly 200 quid to sort out a dual modded stick, I don't think it's too much for a pad player to find as good an adapter as possible.

(Not that AFAIK IJ is on XB anyway)

  • Registered Users Posts: 955 ✭✭✭GorySnake

Then get a good converter. We've had AE players have to buy converters/mods to play PS3 controllers on 360 for tournaments. 360 Injustice is just better for tournaments.

  • Registered Users Posts: 558 ✭✭✭Bento Sento

I was just saying that it would make more sense to run it on PS3 because the vast majority of Injustice players play on that console.

  • Registered Users Posts: 320 ✭✭liamnojo92

Hopefully I can make it, if anyone wants someone to carry through the team tourney I'm your man :p

dont think thats a good idea to be honest,
too many issues with the game on xbox to risk using it in tourny play.

characters deleting themselves needing a cache clear & redownload,
buttons randomly stop working at start of match or after a clash (there has been mutlitable threads on tym about that issue so its not as random as i thought at 1st)

not to sound smart but id take the game taking 1-2 more seconds to load over my buttons maybe not functioning mid match at a tourny.

pad players?!? scum of the earth, **** 'em lol

yea very good point stick players have to dosh out hell of alot more than a e20 converter and if your playing at tournies u should be kitted out with what you need.

but with reasons mentioned above if it could be played on ps3 prob be less risk of mess up, also theres a xgc ps3 fully patched with dlc already there, theres another one of theres that just needs the zatanna patch but we'll be playing on it before the tourny so it well be updated by then :D

I've never been to the xgc, but i'd love to go. Is it easy enough to find? Also I'd love to play in the AE teams, if anyone would be willing to put up with me.

    It's pretty easy.

I can meet anybody who's coming from out of town and can't find the place at the spire(big pointy yoke on o' connell street), xgc is 2 minutes down the road from that.

I'd appreciate the help. Dublin to me is what New York was for Homer.

    Cool poster Onion!

Someone else mentioned it last time we had a poster but maybe under the event name add in something like "fighting game tournament and casuals".

To the let the truly uninitiated know what it's about.

    • QR code/shortened link to the boards thread or RS.ie post is needed.
    • Mention cost & game platform.
    • Needs something like "all skill levels welcome"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 627 ✭✭✭Speed Boat

    Do people use QR codes?

I don't care really but I'm just curious if people use them.

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 25,872 Mod ✭✭✭✭Doctor DooM

Never used a QR code in my life, myself.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,315 ✭✭✭A-Trak

QR codes are a complete waste of time.
    No one uses them.

One suggestion I'd agree with is Kikis "All skill levels welcome" on the posters though.

Otherwise love the posters Onion, I'd go with the ken one.

  • Moderators Posts: 8,678 ✭✭✭D4RK ONION

I'll certain try to fit a few of those in. Don't think the qr code is a seller, website is right there at the top.
