Thanks so much :) I love chem and bio so it shouldnt be a problem, hopefully :P oh are you going into 1st year actually? It would be handy to know someone else with the same plan as me in my year :) also, would you be a 2nd year biological and biomed student or would you be transfered back into 1st year of that course??

Yup :D first year science then (fingers crossed) into biomed in second year. I am almost sure you go into second year.
Yeah i was told that you could transfer into the only courses that general science students haven't gone into was one of the maths teaching courses :)
I really want to do biomed and there is no harm knowing your options at the start of the year :P

You should be grand, but you should be looking for 70% average in all the subjects you have in common with the course you are looking to go into.

I didnt know we used that username/password for anything yet! I thought registering online was for 2nd years and over and that we register when we get there for orientation?

That's certainly what I did back in first year. Don't you have a slot for registration during your orientation?

I think first years have to register in person, everyone else can do online. Least thats how it used to be.

I wouldn't imagine so unless you have been specific instructions about registration?

Fees have to be paid by logging in to the website with username and password, but registration takes place in person. I received a letter in the post regarding fees and log in details.

Edit: I'm going into first year incidentally.

Could anyone who is even the slightest bit confused or wondering about when they need to register, please take a look at this link: http://records.nuim.ie/documents/RegistrationSchedule2013-2014.pdf. It's a list of the various groups that have to register in person, along with the date and time you have to register at, and it's mostly first year undergrads and postgrads.

If you're not on the list, then you'll be registering online. If you are on the list, then you need to show up at the right time or there's a big fine (100 squids I believe).
There's plenty of information on this page, including a registration guide for online registration: http://records.nuim.ie/services.shtml.

Based on that does anyone know if there's a specific slot that deferral students need to go to or just any of the "Repeating Students" slots?
Or is there a separate time that I don't know about?
Friday 27th September Repeating Students Registration Slots:
    Friday 27th September Slot 1 9.30 - 12.30am Exams Office
    Friday 27th September Slot 2 2pm - 4pm Exams Office

Monday 30th September Repeating Students Registration Slots:
    Monday 30th September Slot 3 9.30 - 12.30 Exams Office
    Monday 30th September Slot 4 2pm - 4pm Exams Office

Tuesday 1st October Repeating Students Registration Slots:
    Tuesday 1st October Slot 5 9.30 - 12.30 Exams Office
    Slot 6 2pm - 4pm Exams Office

I took from the letter that I received today that as a deferral student I was considered to be repeating?

I got the same letter today and it says repeating students need to register in person, but if you're starting a new year then you can do it online.
I also emailed the college asking if there was anything special I needed to do to register as i had deferred last year, and they said just register online as normal.

Did you defer before the year had started or during?

I can't work out what I'm considered as. I'm not starting a new year but doing third year again, I remember the Fees Office saying something about me being considered a "Medical Repeat" officially and I'm pretty sure the Records Office said that I had to register later but I'm still all confused! The History dept didn't help by saying that I should be able to register online!

I've now also realised that based on my lecture times none of the registration times really suit me at all! There's only one that I can manage and that'll be pushing it!

Ah ok! I deferred before the year had started, and let them know then that I'd be returning this year.
Sorry I can't be of more help! I'd say just give them a call/email. They were really helpful with any questions I had about it!

MCR Baby - if you defer during the year you're considered a repeat student. You won't be able to register online for definite. Get in touch with records/exams office (exams office were the ones in charge of repeat/defer registration when I did it, not sure about now). They might let you register a bit later on in the day if you explain lecture clash situation.

Also history dept probably wouldn't know about any of the registration procedures.

I reckoned as much! I've emailed the Records Office anyway explaining that so I'll see what they say!
