    2nd draft.
    need some opinion though .

    draft2upload.jpg

    First team.
    Mignolet
    Dawson - Shawcross - Coleman
    Hazard - Walcott - Nolan - Mirallas
    Benteke - Lukaku - Anelka.

4.5 mil in the bank to swap walcott to rvp and benteke/lukaku to a decent mf.

So you've planned two transfers already....are starting 4.5m behind everyone else....have 4dgw players so will struggle to even field a decent first 11 in GW 3. would suggest changing your whole strategy as you wont even be able to catch any bandwagons early on.

And your starting 11 over the first 3 weeks will be low shawcross, nolan, benteke, dawson I think are too risky while anelka, mirralles, lukaku all carry big risk maybe have 2/3 of second bunch at most. Like idea of different teams and strategies but compared to other teams on here think needs big overhaul. Sorry

BORUC out, MANNONE in - Both 4.5 and both are the main choices in their clubs. I just personally have more faith in the Sunderland defence than I do in the Southampton defence. Hopefully won't ever need to play him.

TERRY out, COLE in - In my eyes Cole is the only defender than I would feel comfortable to pin as a guaranteed starter for Chelsea for the season. He has hardly any competition for his spot at LB other than Bertrand. I know I could have chosen someone like Luiz, Terry, Ivanovic, Azpilicueta except only three of those four can start. Really depends if Luiz is on the way out or not. If he does end up leaving I will slot Ivanovic in there.

NANI out, RAMIRES in - Since Nani was injured I needed to take him out as he more than likely wont start for the first week or two. I had Zaha slotted in there instead, as he is likely to start, but there is a very big rotation risk. Ramires on the other hand is a regular starter for Chelsea. I will more than likely just keep him for the DGW and see what happens.

LUKAKU out, BONY in - I know, I know. Call me crazy. I had my doubts about Lukaku anyway but since I needed someone to come in for Zaha Ramires was my best option. That meant one Chelsea player had to go. Lukaku got the boot in favour of Bony as he will definitely be a regular starter. Lukaku won't be.

I feel uneasy leaving Dzeko in there but he's staying for now.

Like the look of the team, prob strongest first 15 team I have seen, only problem I see is you will never play 5 defenders at the back, so will have lot of money wasted there even put in 1 4m 3rd choice sub, and have money to upgrade bony or ramieres....will be hard to find money later to upgrade fw later otherwise

Have settled on this team. Nothing left in the bank.

    3jko.jpg

3 Chelsea players for the DGW - Cech is nailed on, Hazard should play most of 180 mins IMO and I thing Lukaku is a good chance to take even if he doesn't start both games. Boruc can come in for Cech without using a transfer in GW2/3.

Toure, Reid and Zableta seem like pretty certain starters, are all at home plus Zabaleta is always good for a goal or assist. Mickey Turner is a great option to have on the bench so hopefully Chester (at 4.0) won't be needed and frees up cash.

Coutinho and Walcott make up the rest of the midfield and need no explaining while Paulinho could be a real livewire for Spurs and Colback is the best of the 4.5 options.

Upfront, Lukaku is joined by the equally risky selection of Dzeko but he seems to have as much chance of starting as any of the alternatives at City and even if he doesn't start is fully capable of coming off the bench to score against a leaky Newcastle defence at home. Soldado of Spurs is a proven goalscorer and seems to be the missing piece of the puzzle they have needed. Expect him to hit the ground running.

    thanks for the suggestion.
will work on another draft soon.

how your team going along ?

i'm not so much believer on walcott to be honest,
and thinking about michu a lot, since he play in his fav position this year.
coutinho is much bigger gamble than mirallas, lukaku, anelka.
benteke has been good this pre season,
i expect him to score at least 2 goal in gw1.
thats my theory at least. lol

Totally identical to my current team, but I used the extra £1m to upgrade Ward to Toure, and would play him ahead of Coleman in GW1. I think Liverpool will keep a clean sheet and that could be a nice 12 points from the early kick off, on top of whatever Coutinho delivers!

Too much in your defense. If you're paying 5.5 for a defender he should probably be playing every week. If he's dispensable you could really use it to upgrade Cabaye. I presume Mig is meant to be starting?

Also I don't think anyone's a fan of Colback for 5.0 you could have Redmond/Koren/Brady/Whittingham/Kim/Sidwell. Otherwise I can't argue with it.

Any thoughts guys? Just had to get RVP in

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,305 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Prodston

My team is on the last page or can bee seen here but as Hazard is currently my only DGW player what would ye say about the following options

Dzeko to Weimann freeing up 1.5 to boost Terry/Cole into the side over Toure.

Or just sub out RVP for Benteke/Lukaku and leave it at that.

2 or at a real push/compelling argument I could go to 3 DGW is really the max. I see it as counter intuitive to bring in Benteke if I have Kos and a Chelsea defender. Starting without RVP is an option but he'd come straight in against Chelsea just to proof my team against any price-falls.

Ultimately it's down to whether I want to have the safety of the pack in GW1 or risk being sunk before I leave the starting blocks. RVP has hit 40% now which is bloody scary.
I think the question I came to ask was would Weimann be better or as good an option as Dzeko as I've gone from one DGW player to 4 very quickly in this post

It's a tough call, would keep Dzeko though and swap out RVP for one of Lukaku or Benteke.

Okay I've made a few more changes - Little unsure if I've made it worse or better..

    wLtwlna.png

I'm basically running on the hope that nobody in my first 11 gets injured...

Lescott will be out for Nastasic once he is back more than likely..

Lukaku for DGW only, then possibly to Bony..

Mertesacker / Terry or Coleman / Ivanovic? Both strong combos.. I'm not just not sure Terry will play every game whereas I'd have more faith in Ivanovic after last season

Can you explain your logic behind Reid / Arteta / de Guzman / Jovetic / Sorenson?

    Very unusual choices.

Trying to get balance in the midfield is tricky, so de Guzman at 6.0 is a maybe. I may replace him with Duffer mind.

It's good but Mertersacker isn't a good option; Jenkinson would be better.

Explain how Arsenals second choice Rb would be better than their first choice centre back ?

I think your midfield is too light. With RVP you can't really afford to have such an expensive defence. At least one (if not two) of Mertesacker, Zabaleta or Ivanovic needs to be downgraded to a 4.5m. Also, Baker won't play. Change him for Brayford who will start should you need him (and you will need your subs at some stage)

Also, consider Mata to Hazard to free up another 1m and upgrade Britton or Bellamy. Also I don't think Hoolahan will be a regular starter if Hughton plays 2 up front.

Why Cazorla over Walcott? You could save some easy money there.

I'd reconsider Britton (defensive midfielder), Baker (not first choice, and Lambert rotates heavily) & Wes (didn't play as well as expected last season, much more competition for places at Norwich this season) & Bellamy (he isn't the player he was, 4 goals at Championship level last season).

I would downgrade your defense and Cazorla to upgrade the others.

Agreed. There is a very real possibility that weimann will draw 2 blanks for the dgw.

@ darego: Good starting XI but what is your 'exit strategy'?

By GW3 you will have Cech (and no reserve keeper), Terry, Hazard and Benteke with no game. You will also have worries over Dzeko and his playing time, Toure and Coutinho will be playing Man U and Walcott and Soldado have the North London derby.

The bench isn't strong enough to cover that, even allowing for your 2 FTs
