Any chance of some of theses storms reaching the east coast?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,315 ✭✭✭snowstreams

Looks like flash flooding will be a problem now. Car Park outside is like a river! Lovely rolls of thunder though.

The heavens opened briefly in Clondalkin around five minutes ago. It was extremely heavy, but no sign of any thunder.

I nearly jumped out of my skin with that one! Was looking out the window at the lightning, though to myself "Jeeze that was a bright flash" and then BANG!! Right over the damn house :)

Can hear thunder now in South mayo, possibly from the band heading up from Galway. Skies looking very black to my south.

Lots of black clouds over Cork airport. Is it our turn now? Fingers crossed

Standing corrected... Again. Another flash bang over Galway bay!

This must be going on an hour now!

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,905 ✭✭✭Storm 10

I can only describe what I saw over Galway City from one very black cloud as a waterfall, you could see the rain falling down vertically and fast from the cloud, never saw anything like that before, I would say there is flooding in parts of the City.

Just seen a flash over the conemmara mountains. then a clap of thunder. No rain here yet, but boy are the skies black. Conemmara mountains now disappeared from view, due to the rain there.

Rain seems to be stopping in Galway now. Still the odd flash. That was the best irish thunderstorm I have witnessed ever. So many loud bangs and flashed and that loudest one hurt my ears. I jumped clean off the chair!!! I only hope for all of ye to get it. I can still hear the thunder coming from the north of the city.

A nice bit of thunder and lightning after passing Lifford, my early warning system (the dog) nearly put the door in 10 minutes before it started!!!
