I'm delighted for Weidman after the tough year he had. I look forward to the re-match but I would favour Weidman again.

I respect Silva alot more than the likes of GSP.

SIlva goes out to put on a show for the fans, setting crazy records along the way. The man is my fav fighter of all time and I don't think anyone will ever coming come close to what he has achieved.

GSP just tries to not loose fights. ZZZZZZZzzzzzz

GSP's aim is to not lose fights. That's the whole point.
I hate the argument that GSP is boring. Just because he doesn't finish fights as much as other fighters, he's seen as boring. I don't understand it.
Fair enough if the only reason someone watches the sport is for exciting finishes then maybe you won't like GSP. But if you actually enjoy all aspects of the sport then GSP is the man to watch.

The guy is a genius. He's the most well rounded fighter in mma in my opinion. No matter who he's fighting, he finds a way to neutralise their strengths and then he picks them apart.
For someone who likes all the intricacies of the sport, he's a joy to watch.

He's beaten the best and often at their own game and his strategy is
    always spot on
Just because he doesnt go in for the kill doesnt make it boring
He sticks to a gameplan brilliantly and it always pays off
He took diaz apart last time out and diaz was just stunned
with how he was manhandled and had no reply whatsoever

silva doesnt always put on a show
the maia+leites fight are two examples
he was very disrespectful towards maia
I longed for the day he started arsing around sticking
out his chin and finally getting caught
    It made my day

Weidman won fair and square. He was t the better fighter. He knocked silva out purely because of silvas stupidity. All this fight will do for silva is make him wake up and not be so cocky. He really overdid it last night. All great fighters learn from their losses

At the end of the day if you dont finish a guy who's to say if you could actually win a fight against these guys if there were no time limits.

And who's to say he wouldn't win if he was allowed to bring a pool cue into the cage.
That's not in the rules so there's no point considering it. The same way there is a time limit, so there's no point saying what if.

GSP is brilliant at what he does. There's no denying we all love to see a good finish, but just because GSP doesn't finish all his fights doesn't make it any less impressive.

I suppose it's all about tastes. I've no problem with people saying they're not a fan of GSP because they prefer a finisher. That's fine. It just annoys me when people say he's boring or safe etc.

In my opinion, GSP is the perfect example of the perfect fighter and there is an argument for him being the GOAT instead of Silva.
Again, it's all down to personal preference.

I've no problem with anyone saying they like watching Anderson fighting, but lets be clear! He's not there to entertain us, he's only interested in winning and was almost getting the boot from the UFC for been so negative and not entertaining fans.

Silva is/was a great but has had many a stinking fight.

I get what your all saying. I do appreciate what GSP does, and yes, he prob is the best all round mma fighter.
When GSP was fighting for the belt he was one of my fav guys to watch, when he lost is and came back he was brilliant, but recently he seems nervous to go 110% and finnish the fight, I think he is more concerned about keeping the belt.

Wow! Only watching the main event Now.

That just sent a shiver down my spine!

Ps: how did two judges give Tim Kennedy the first round?

Interesting little video of weidman after the flight. Heat of the moment and all that but he's not wrong in what he's saying

Anderson has been working on the wacky waving arm inflatable tube man defense.
    :D

Frankie against Cub Swanson could a great scrap next.

Roger Gracie was terrible in the final round of his fight. He gassed big time. Saying that he definitely won the first round. I saw a tweet from Tim Kennedy earlier; "America won today". Oh Tim.

What can I say about Silva that hasn't already been said? He acted very foolishly and paid the price. He was doing everything right; defending the sub attempts and getting the fight back to the feet but everything else was just absolutely crazy. Okay you could say he was trying to goad Weidman into a scrap so he could counter but he didn't even seem to be bothered punching back. I'd love to see him fight a rematch after going back and getting refocussed.

Norman Parke was very impressive against Tokudome but damn does the Asian have a hard head. His grappling was top notch.

Herman should be getting his marching papers any day now.

Rafaello Olivera won't be walking right for a while.

Really , really , really wanted Roger to beat Kennedy. Guy is a solid fighter , but he is very irritating.

I seem to remember Goldberg saying there was to be a big announcement about GSP last night.
    Anybody know what that was?

Had to laugh at Bisping and Vitor, ever the opportunists, looking to challenge Weidman. Neither would be anywhere near title contention if Silva had won. And Bisping hasn't even got a chance to face Silva before blowing his opportunity at a title match...why would that change with a new champion?

Conor McGregor also had somewhat of a meltdown on Twitter today, slagging off '40 year old fat virgin' fans who 'turned on' Anderson. I've been defending him for the past few days in the run up to the fight...but he deserves to be slated for the nature of that defeat. Still the greatest of all time, but that doesn't make his KO any less embarrassing. McGregor needs to learn to keep his fan friendly rapport going, because all he's got now is the Irish vote and, if he loses that, he could find himself slip down the pecking order very quickly without even stepping into the Octagon.

got drunk last night and went to bed and said I'd download the Silva figth today.

Anyway stupidly I checked Facebook earlier and a picture of Weidman draped in the Stars and Stripes popped up on my newsfeed and I was thinking "bollocks, just spoilt the fight"

So I download the fight and the file is 45 mins long so I'm thinking Chris must have won a Chael Sonnen style decision.

Couldn't believe it when Weidman sparked him in round 2!

It was just the date and event for GSP vs Hendricks.

    Dana confirmed during the presser.

    Unfortunate.

Hungover facebook checking has ruined other fights for me, namely Cain/JDS 2, Benson/Edgar 2 and Condit/Diaz.

When I was 'acquiring' the main card show, I had the option of 'viewing' the title fight but had the sense to not even glance at the file size or video length in case I had a clue about how it played out.

Im annoyed at silva. I hate showboating/disrespect.

silva looked really sharp to me and seemed as if he could finish at any point. Weidman looked so sluggish in r2. He got caught like anyone can showboating or not. he went ott on it this fight.

i always wanted him to pay for previous showboating but now the weidman victory seems so hollow!

I guess i wanted him to get tagged, cut the bs and find out who the real best fighter is. Thats what we all want to see and defo why all dont know now.

I dont buy the whole tired of being champ thing. He could have retired respectfully before and the whole 10 fight contract also proves he wasnt so tired! Gah so annoying!

McGregor is the greatest prospect to come out of Europe in recent years, he's on a long winning streak and is finishing guys quickly and in killer fashion.

He's not going to drop down the pecking order based on a few tweets responding to fans.

I think we all know #1 fights etc go to who will sell the most ie who the fans like or hate the most. Not a wise move to alienate yourself.

I appreciate GSP style but at the end of the day Silva is what an mma fighter should look like, always looking to finish the fight with an array of different skills.

Jones is a killer like silva,Mcgregor from what we have seen is a killer.

Firstly, Silva doesn't always look to finish fights as we just saw against Weidman where he deliberately dropped his hands and let him punch him, as well as returning to a corner position at the cage wall after breaking free while beckoning at Weidman to try again.

Secondly, why are people bringing Conor McGregor into so many threads?
