The stones can be a bit of a pain though. Not everyone drives slow on them.

I have a coat of glitz on them, should have put more on.
I'll just have to put a speed ramp up to stop the lunatics

The other day I did a spot of headlight restoration. These lights are on a parts car that my dad got for his MR2. The headlights on his have become crazed and cracked. I would have masked up except the bodywork on this car isn't needed.

Here they are before I started.

    D245A5541FFD48CFA60BEB0908DFC837-0000363222-0003722463-01024L-EF21C2025A0E4B998CA0D9933AE389B2.jpg

First, I cleaned them with a little APC to get the mud off. Then it was on to wet sanding. First 1500 then 2500 grit.

    E7CBF42E9FF0455591F6744944E13B83-0000363222-0003722461-01024L-8DE116369B614BFAB79F4C45BB8D4413.jpg

Now with the sanding residue removed. Has to look worse before it looks better!!!

Then it was time for V34 and an Orange HexLogic pad. Starting to get there :) Looks perfect in the picture but in real life they were hazy still

It was then polished with V36 on a green pad and then V38 on a white pad. Came up well :)

Good work - nice to have a practice car to use and not have to worry about taping up etc! :)

I didn't use anything yet. I only got as far as the foam and rinse and then it got dark. Will wash again tmw and then give it a Meguiars wax and wheel dressing. The windows could do with a polish too.

First mild day yesterday, and the compulsion to wax was overwhelming.
    Coat of AG HiDef :)

Did you turn an Alfa seat into a computer chair?!

I did indeed. I was given two of them from a 166. I had the bases welded on, and gave one back to the kind donor :)

    Nice one, looks great.

My seats were badly stained, I planned to clean it first with CG fabric cleaner but had no spare spray bottle! Anyway we got a fairly nifty vax steam cleaner a few weeks bad so decided to lay into the seats. They still arent fully dry so the verdict is still out however it looks good so far

Before, looked worst in reality actually.

After, drying patchy as I went over some areas more, hopefully itll be even.

Also did the pedals with the steam cleaner, ideal for it as there is no slippy products used!

You might find that seats will dry with a slight tide line or not quite 100%...a light going over again, should have them spot on! Good work!

Yeah they have in parts, thanks for the tip I'll go over it again lightly! Any advantage in spraying on some Chemical Guys fabric clean first?

I've noticed since moving to Dublin the interior glass gets totally filthy in no time.
I cleaned it today with a sponge-cloth & APC and couldn't believe the amount of black soot on the cloth.

Diesel smoke? Not sure how the soot gets through the cabin filter, I'm guessing its pretty fine... tomorrows job is to see what colour the filter is :(

Wait until you get a load of the Sahara dust that visits us in Dublin aswell!!

    @TheBigGreen

What do you make of the 50cal stuff?

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,377 ✭✭✭Curran

    And the Wheel Woolies? :P
I also see that 50Cal recently lowered their prices across their range! :)
Being able to buy raw material in larger bulk meant they can reduce costs and they've passed it on! Most would pocket the extra profits!

RandomAccess; anyone got a 2nd key to your car and use it on occasion? Smoking in the car on the sly? Just a thought!

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,245 ✭✭✭myshirt

I seen that Morgan posted that aswell. Good stuff.
Wonder will we see the savings on this side of the border :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,377 ✭✭✭Curran

Yes; prices have been adjusted on any site Ive browsed! :)

Always welcome to see prices coming down.
Not sure about the reason given though seeing as the guys that own 50Cal also own Rocara, a company that supplies chemicals to industry, a bit like R&D Laboratories/Mistral.
A welcome development all the same.
