Cheers for the help lads I ended up pre-booking it in Harvey Normans today €20 deposit and then you just need to have it paid of before the release date on the 29th so you can pay it all on the 28th and then ya pick it up on release date, delighted as I didn't think I would get a PS4 this year.

Excellent. They couldn't tell me much when i went in a few weeks ago, not even if they would have it release date. Might drop in tomorrow with a second payment and get a bit more info. I didn't realize that it all had to be paid before the release date. I was just gonna go in on the day and pay off the rest.

They told me in Cork that I could pay it on on collection.....

When I phoned them up today to confirm that it was for release date they said I could pay on the day, when I went in today to pre-order the man working their said I had to have it paid before the day its released as their will be "hundreds trying to buy one that day" I thought to myself isn't that the whole point of pre-ordering ha, but I was just happy that I could get the PS4 on release date that I wasn't really bothered about having to go in the day before to pay, to be honest the bloke who I was talking to didn't seem to know much about it he couldn't even tell me if they were going to be selling the games at release.

Hi guys is it likely to be difficult to get a PS4 around christmas, little bro is looking for one.

Should they be pre booking now to be sure?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 584 ✭✭✭Burkie7

A lot of shops are up to their second shipment pre-orders and they can't guarantee they will arrive before Christmas so you pretty much have to pre-order if you wan't to get it before Christmas in my opinion.

    Thanks,
I rang Smyths, Gamestop and Harvey Norman's, they said if I pay a 20 euro deposit I should hopefully get one before Christmas.

Who do you think would be best to go with?

Not as many people know that HM are taking pre-orders so you would probably not be that far down the list with them.

Which Harvey Normans was this? Or does it even matter?

The missus went into HMV in Liffey Valley today and Put a deposit down on one as today was the first day they were back open. She was told she would get one on Launch day. The Guy behind the counter said there was only a few on the list.

Went in and preordered mine today in Gamestop. The guy couldn't tell me when to expect to receive, so I guess it's all a waiting game now. Am I being too ambitious in thinking I'll have it before Christmas?

Guy in Symths told us we'd definitely get one before Christmas said there was hardly anyone on the waiting list.

    We'll see I guess.

You will be on the second list, along with quite a few others at this stage, so it is hard to say, even if they do get more in before christmas, you will have other people in front of you.

The one in Blanch, I reckon it would matter as it would have to do with how many have pre-ordered from a certain shop.

Mmm. Now I'm thinking maybe I jumped the gun and picked the wrong bid. Might suss out the Symths branches here, we've got two so surely I'd get a similar answer?

Aye, dude said there was like 100+ on the lsit ahead of me which has startled me into sussing out other outlets to see what they say. He 'said' the whole country was sold-out, and that I'll meet with similar results if I wish to preorder it in another store, but this is seemingly contradicting what's been discussed here. I know it's gonna be a product in high demand, but I dare say I've been played the fool, at least in part.

I asked in HMV Limerick today and was told that they weren't taking any pre-orders for launch day release. Or any other subsequent releases.
They said that all the stock in the country had been pre booked any it was just a matter of waiting for stock to come in after all pre-orders had been fulfilled :confused::confused:
Glad I pre-ordered mine from Amazon

Really? Ah man, think I'll chance it altogether and get it from Amazon. The only thing that worries me about buying it on-line is whether it'd get damaged in transit...

I've ordered lots of stuff from Amazon over the years and only once had a problem where something was damaged. Once I reported it damaged they sent out a replacement by express delivery straight away. Which was brilliant as it was a child's prezzie and the week before Christmas.
They nirmally do pack things up fairly well and their customer service is second to none.

I concur with how well they ship things, as I've always bought games and books and such from the site, but never anything of such value before. Yeah, I'm definitely considering checking this option out.

I have got 42" TV's from them and the only hard part about it, is actually getting the thing out of the box, they fill it with so much padding, never had anything break, although did get sent a empty Amazon box once, had not even ordered anything.

Amazon are brilliant for delivery and packaging, never once had a problem with them. My micro sd card for the phone broke, half a day later a new one was dispatched.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,846 ✭✭✭Moneymaker

Yeah I once ordered a new headset from Amazon and I was stunned at the amount of packaging, the damn thing was wrapped in cotton wool pretty much.

I wouldn't be at all concerned at any damage during transit ordering from them.

Spoke to the manager in there on launch morning. They are NOT doing launch day ps4. They are only taking people for wave 2 releases. I was one of the first in shop.

They are not doing them, only in England.

If what you say is true, they need to start informing their staff of this and inform them, not to be telling customers they are getting PS4'S in for launch.
