I just get back from GS in Kilkenny (where i pre-ordered). They confirmed that my pre-order will be to collect on midnight premiere 28/29 (as i mentioned earlier i booked my console in june). I've asked are they going to ring ppl and confirm details but guy there told me that he doesn't know but thinking that they are not going to ring anyone. So i said you know that there will be then lots of people without preorder waiting in queue and he said that they know that...

I've gotten two different stories from GameStop, one was I'll be getting a call this week and the second time I asked, I was told by a different guy that sony haven't told them how many consoles each store will receive so can't guarantee anyone a lunch day yet.

Is this one of those solve for x when y is unknown equations?

I'd rather get the HN with Killzone and have it on the day. You can always trade Killzone for Fifa if you want Fifa that much.

Use XE and then add 3% to cover out VAT rate. Or just add it to your basket, select pay in Euro and cancel before confirming the order. Amazon don't charge you until they ship it anyway so no worries.

    Going to guess that it's Amazon UK and the only Fifa bundle they have which is the Sony PlayStation 4 FIFA Mega Pack;

    Sony PlayStation 4 (PS4)
    FIFA 14 (PS4)
    Killzone Shadow Fall (PS4)
    2 x Sony PlayStation DualShock 4 controllers
    PS4 camera

    @ £469.99

    which will be around €570

Is preordering essential if you want one for christmas. I presumed demand would have saturated by then and one could just walk into a store and buy it like a regular transaction. I tend to find people get too focused on the idea of pre ordering and convince themselves that things will sell out, ive never pre ordered a game in my life and any one ive wanted on launch day ive got no problem.

Games will be abundant but consoles not so much. People will have to realize Ireland is not a huge market compared too mainland Europe and the UK .

I know this question has probably being asked a thousand times before but is there anywhere around dublin that will sell it release day without having it preordered? Harvey Norman etc? Thanks for any help.

Extremely doubtful to be honest mate, at this stage it could well be January at the earliest before you can walk in and pick one off the shelves!!

I wouldn't say walk in, but Tesco and Argos will be your best bets for picking one up without a preorder.

    Is this true ?

My sister in law was going to get one for her son.. But when i told her about the pre-ordering she said she'll get the PS3 instead.

Yeah, but I'd say they'll have pretty limited stock, not being a specialist retailer, so it might be fairly diffiult to get one.

You would also have to fight with lots of other people thinking the same thing. I can imagine it would be like black friday in some tescos on the midnight 28th. With argos you might be able to reserve it at midnight.

My amazon bundle was updated overnight. Still no estimated delivery date but at least the bundle is showing now. Order date was 2nd October.

Honest truth is no one here knows for a fact but if you want one for Christmas, you are severely denting your chances of getting one by not preordering.

I think what we can all agree on is:
People that pre ordered months ago are not guaranteed a console for launch day.
If you haven't preordered from any of the stores taking pre orders by now, you will not get one on launch day.
Any store not taking pre orders that have some consoles on launch day, you will need to queue early and may still be disappointed.
There are not many days between launch day and Christmas to get one if stock is low.
This console is one of the most hotly anticipated pieces of kit I can remember, demand will not slow down for some time.

    Word from XtraVision:

If your console is pre-booked prior to early August, Stores will be calling launch day customers in the next week or so as our own bundles are currently now being signed off by suppliers. There was a Watchdog Bundle originally confirmed by Sony but they have now since changed this and a Killzone bundle will offered when calling.

Hmm I ordered late August albeit from Gamestop. I was told on the phone that I was getting one on launch day but I’m not so sure after reading all these comments. Upgraded to Killzone as well so that might increase my chances? Christmas will have to do if not. I’ll get it by Christmas though right...right!?

If you upgraded to the Killzone one you should be fine getting it on launch day. There's supposedly more of those bundles than consoles alone.

I think we may all be guilty of being a little too paranoid, if they tell you that you are guaranteed one on launch day, best thing is to just believe them unless told otherwise. You would dig yourself into an early grave with worry otherwise.

Now, if it turns out they were lying, then it is time to call down in person and 'ave a word.
