There was a thread recently about that Lexus, I need to search for it but IIRC the poster who sold it recently sold it with 180,000 miles. Now its 78,000. (Note the reg is missing!)

    Edit:

    This thread:

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=90624276

We should all ring "John" about the car and after some polite back and fourth, "oh yeah, so this is the Clocked Lexus all over the internet - so you have it?!!"

You can draw your own conclusions.....:)

He's also selling a hiace on the lexus ad.

Clocked lexus from "John", wanting windows for a caravan from "Connor" and selling a hiace.

Hmm, the detective in me thinks this might be a chap called John Connors.

Remember this wasposted here a while ago, and I said it sold at auction a few weeks ago. It was back in Mullingar auctions this evening.

Nearly bought a VW Beetle, but otherwise there wasn't much of interest to me.
I might send my MR2 in.

Did it sell if you don't mind me asking?

I was looking into buying it myself, but slightly too rare and with complex cars that's not a good thing (when looking for parts, insurance etc).

    No, didn't sell this evening.

I'd stay away from it tbh. Something dodgy about it. Has been for sale months, I'm just not sure if its been passed around between owners or if the one person hasn't sold it in about 3 months. Both equally worrying really.

The fact its been through the Auction and coming back a few weeks is a bad sign.

If its the Pheaton - wasn't it sold initially a few days before going through the auction the first time????

Serious question, but how much should that Rolls be worth?
Surely a lot more than 2k?

    People are terrified of a 2l petrol Merc, never mind a 6.75l V12!! :D

V8, probably the most famous engine in motoring, the RR 6 and three quarter v8.

A description with a bare "starts, drives and stops" wouldn't exactly fill me with confidence about its condition.

Mid to low-ish quality one go for a bit more than 5k. That must be an awful heap.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,536 ✭✭✭✭L-M

Yeah, the main thing with those are the brakes, if they're gone they could cost you the 2k again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 939 ✭✭✭wildefalcon

They aren't too bad to work on, though, once the high pressure circuits are intact. It's not too far from the citroen system. A copy of the workshop manual is a must, though, but parts are available from the UK. Engine is straightforward, gearbox is a fairly standard unit. Once the body work is ok, the rest is just fairly standard 1970s british electics.

That one looks to have a rusty wheel arch, indicative of body rot elsewhere. Seeing as how cheap they are in fair to good condition I'd avoid.

That looks exactly like the stolen Bentley t1. Can anyone enlarge the photo to see if that is a winged lady or a B on the front? Different number plate on it. This seems to be the number plate of a UK import. Round mirror is same, seats same, interior same, white rings on wheel. That one had cost 22000 back then. It did a good 80+ mph but used up a lot of leaded petrol. It takes additive mix to drive this.
He picks up phone and does not answer but does not hang up either. Second time ringing, answering machine. Leave a message thank you BEEP.
Then I finally get him on the phone and he suddenly hangs up. (I mention Bentley by mistake) He does say the engine is ok it starts drives and stops.
Anyone feel like ringing and asking more?

Its a Version 1, and the 2 is much better/dearer.
Id say it would be lucky to do 12 mpg:D

The eauner of such a prestigious motor does not require brakes. The peasants are expected to make way. Make way, peasants!

80+ mph in that rust bucket? Id say it would take all day to get to 80 and even longer to stop. Sounds terrifying.

Will cruise all day at 80mph no problem, problem as you say is getting there and stopping.

This beast is the real deal although way over price limit for thread, was one of fastest saloons in the world in its day in spite of size and weight:
