If theres nothing wrong with it- no reason not to keep it.

Yeah, My thought exactly, Gonna plug it in and give it a go and see if it works.
Only concern is it's exempt from the 30 day money back guarantee so only way it could be returned is if it was "faulty"?

I am blind but was told the same - where you can see that on the argos site?

Easy mistake for them to make.
They always make sure to tell you if it's excluded at the till anyway.

    Router works!

Whoever had the router before me with password: bravepotato585

Let me know if there is a reason you took it back :P
    (It's worth a chance asking)

Now the real question, To DD-WRT or not!

I am thinking about dd-wrt or better Gargoyle(because with netgear firmware all is in opposite way - i want to block mac address but with it i can set a list of allowed devices - before that i had cisco from upc and all was a lot simpler):) but with v4 it's not that easy and it is supported since may or so and second of all i never did that before to router(:)) - only different things like dvd-rw, laptops etc.

Managed to get a reservation so got my dad to buy the router while I was away for the month.
Got home, Shiny box, Looked at the outside label, V4 by the looks of it, Quite chuffed.
Go to open the box, See a bit of tape keeping the box sealed. Get suspicious
Open the box, Damn thing is used! :( Internal bag seals broken, Router is a bit dusty, Cables all unwound and shoved back in the box
    Not sure what to do...

Connect the router, reset the settings back to factory default's and start using it ?:confused::confused::confused:

If not, we'll buy it off you for the price you paid ;)

Anyone who missed this, this is arguably a better deal. Use parcel motel for delivery. Includes modem features for UPC, dual band and 2 usb ports

Looks good for a basic router, but no dd-wrt support it seems

I put dd-wrt on the Netgear router and it drove me bananas. Was way over my head in fairness but a lot of the features aren't really that useful in a domestic setting anyway

To V4 or different one? If V4 which tutorial did You use?

With dd-wrt on this router you can use vpn so you can access bbc iplayer and Netflix US

Better speeds on 2.1Ghz- I can't get over how fast the 5.4Ghz signal falls off (I can't see it at all upstairs- and I'm down at 38-40% in the kitchen (its in the living room) whereas I'm still at almost 80% on 2.1Ghz

No issues setting it up- its a doddle- the web interface is very intuitive.

Signal strength is not what I was hoping- but its a damn nice router.

Its usually 2.4 and 5Ghz, not 2.1 and 5.4, just fyi.

I put dd-wrt on mine and it's great. I love the fact the both the 2.4 and 5Ghz broadcast at the same time and that I now have a print server.
I was unable to change the DNS settings on my UPC Thompson router but no problems with this.
