I'd nearly prefer and trying to save it. I've never swapped one before.

Most of my daily hacks have had new interiors put in them for my own sanity after seeing some of the mess of some of them!

Everything in the boot is being binned......a new interior wouldn't be a bad idea but the plan is to try and clean it all first and see if it can be sorted.

The whole car is rough around the edges but mechanically it seems great

Bring it to Elite auto clean or detailing shed and you won't have to get a new interior.

It's a cheap shyte car! I'll sort it on the driveway as I'm not spending much on it

OK well then get a spray bottle, fill it with petrol, spray the interior with it and you know the rest :pac:

    Lol

I'll follow my often stated own advice, SCRAP IT.

Actually for how rough the body is it drives superb, well as well as a 2000 reg Avensis 2.0 TD with 163k miles can. Randomly when I turn the fan on the car begins to idle faster. I'm sure I'll come across more randomness soon.

Nothing more satasfying than smashing a tamperproof immobiliser off a bosch ve.

    Therapeutic :)

    I would worry about a person selling a "Toyoya":P

Dosen't look too bad though considering it's about 1/2 of the price of most of the others for sale:)

i think my strategy is to keep making low ball offers until someone, somewhere accepts.

if you look at the pictures of the damage and the cacked state the wheels are in now compared to how the wheels look in the other photos, it makes me think the main photos are years old.

btw, that damaged white ae111 that was up weeks ago in wexford. had you noticed it was repaired, for sale for 1200 repaired and now being broken for parts. what a sad chain of events for it.

I can't remember how I ever drove a car without cruise control.

It makes it so much easier to just roll along and sit and shift position and keep comfortable in the car. And it dropped my fuel consumption right down, knocking about 10% off it because it handles things a little smoother.

    Tap the clutch to disengage.

Seems a little silly to have CC in a manual, but it's an addictive feature.

Well spotted with the photos. It might actually be proper rough :(

You would wonder why that 111 was repaired at all  have you a link to the ad?

i hope it is proper rough so he accepts a **** offer :)

    this is it here http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/5066287

around a month ago it was advertised for 900 with the driver side torn off of it, needed a wing, headlight and a few bits. then it was repaired and up for sale for 1200. now here it is for "bracking" with an asking price of 3300, ffs

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,606 ✭✭✭toastedpickles

Apparently, it runs on Hondas

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,985 ✭✭✭✭dgt

It's for "bracking" which is chav slang for beating someone up  :pac:

Serious panel gaps there and as clean as me hole..... :p

You could pick it up as cheap as chips sure, the owner was clearly stoned asking that price! :)

    one more lol before bed

It's a very quick little car too. The engine has 3 valves for every cylinder instead of 2. So when you're driving over 100 you flick a switch beside the ignition and the third valves open and fuel the engine more, allowing the car to go off the clock and more than 180kph.

Was he as inebriated as me writing that and expecting people to believe that? Mon dieu! :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,917 ✭✭✭✭Toyotafanboi

i'l bet its just a blank switch and nothing but the placebo effect getting that car over 180 :pac:

a buddy of mine had a 94 starlet 12v 2e-e (same as that car) running very healthily and we had it flat out at 95mph on the motorway in 5th, so that one making it to over 110, i dont know now... :pac:

I'll bet anything the rubber splitter does the trick :pac:

Or because "it's boxy laaaad" More aerodynamic :pac:

Look at what's "strapped" to the parcel shelf!

Any sort of a decent impact could lead to a rather serious case of decapitation by fire extinguisher.

still nice to have abit of fun with the focus for once rather than it causing trouble.

This bit isn't exactly true. Woke up this morning and there was half a litre of coolant under my car. I'm not even surprised anymore. Looks like its back to the mechanics again probably undriveable at the moment considering how much its loosing. Anyway people on here are probably sick of here about my cars problems at this stage. Sorry if I'm ruining the atmosphere on here with my car problems that's not my intention. Anyway at least it's a nice day here in kilkenny really sunny.

You have just had the worse luck with that car
You'll have to start fixing it your self, you'll save a lot of money and get the satisfaction of doing it yourself :)
I do feel sorry for you though :(

On another note, the carpets in the 928 are immaculate now. All I need to do now are the acres of leather and the wheels.

I do a good bit of the work myself. I can do a full service myself. I replaced the leaking intercooler pipe myself and stupid riveted number plates the temperature sensor i replaced myself. Really all the mechanic done was the seals some suspension work and the timming belt plus water pump. I'd go at the coolant leak myself only for its very hard to see which pipe its coming from. I can't take much more with the car. So ill fix the coolant leak and after that it wouldn't want to be causing much more trouble. What's worse is ford parts seem so expensive there literally triple the price for everything compared to Opel parts.

Ah fair play for some reason I thought you always brought it to the mechanic

Sure what else could go wrong with it, you have replaced nearly every component it has :P:P

So last week I bought an 09 318D MSport with a good few options on it. But on getting it home I realised it wasnt veleted properly and there was a not-too-strong-but-present-nontheless smell of cigarette smoke. I promptly complained to the dealer (in Belfast) and they apologised and offered to do a thorough valet and de-odorising of the car. I brought it up and am leaving it with them until Wednesday.

I got a brand new 118d MSport coupe as a loan car and I have to say it is a fantastic car. Looks amazing in Le Mans blue (same as my 3 series) and the drive is incredible! Much smoother and more responsive than the 3 series. I almost (ALMOST!) don't want to swap it back for my car :)

You're not having a good experience with that car. Delete all pictures off here and throw it on done deal. I had an experience like that with a car a couple of years back, as soon as one problem was fixed another surfaced. I bought it planning on keeping it a couple of years and doing a few things to it but conceded defeat and got rid as the turbo had started whistling...you might take a hit but it makes life so much more relaxing for me not waiting for a tow truck on the M7 in the mornings...
