Out of interest, is there a place on boards where Motors regulars can discuss the effects on the community of the loss of particular members?

Not that I know off, I'd suggest a thread in feedback regarding this. Here isn't the place.

Completely off topic but I know there are a few of you in here, may I ask where out IT heads of studied/trained or are in now?
I'm thinking of getting into software development.

Been trying to decide what to do in college for a few years now, this is what's stuck with me.

I did Computer Science in UCD. None of it was relevant to what I do, I didn't finish the course, and I make more than anybody in my year that did. Don't get tooo hung up on courses, it's the skills you need.

This is what I'm thinking from looking at the courses available, they all look very broad and what I've seen (from my girlfriend) is that broad courses are fairly **** for getting work afterwards.

Did you gain your skills yourself or look elsewhere, private?

Not sure really, it's always fascinated me as a curiosity. The more time I spend online the more I wish I knew more about it and well, as far as future careers go... IT all the way.

I did Business Info Systems in UCC. I'm just finished in my QA software engineer role in Waterford and have new job in Cork starting end of the month again QA. Course has paid placement in US and I've been working for same company as did it with since finished college til today that is!

Cain, I didn't go to college (I actually did a FAS course) for it but I spent 3 years as a software developer and I'm 6 months in as a software tester now.

PM me if you have any questions and I'll do my best to answer them.

Are we to understand that any reference to RoverJames's absence is itself a bannable offence? To quote Jessie Pinkman, That's messed up. That's Kafkaesque.

    That's messed up, yo :)

    Yo, Mr. White.......

    Ok I'll stop now :)

Jesus - you make it sound like you would get banned for mentioning his name, which clearly isn't the case.

As you are aware discussing mod decisions, e.g. why someone was banned is not welcome and rightly so IMO.

I don't understand why you want to persue this anyway? People get banned for acting the d1ck, people have lives outside boards and move on.

I'd imagine it's because he cares about the place and see that it's now full of yes men, Google experts and a couple of friends who treat the place as a 'Clubhouse'.

I could of course be drinking looney juice and be completely wrong. I haven't had the displeasure of a run in with anyone in a long time.

I've kept my public comments to a minimum on this as I fear the Chat thread privilege would be removed if someone thought it was too much work to mod again.

yeah I just spent the last four days watching it from episode 1 to the end, I had never seen it before and heard people say how good it was, but I wanted to wait until it ended to check it out.

I watched all episodes of The Sopranos in about the same. Lots of beer helped. I also thought I was in the Marfia for about a week after.

Just seen the van I learned to drive in there on donedeal brought back a lot of good memories I really liked that van probably just because it was the very first thing I drove. Not as clean as it was when we had it and has about 70k km on it more too.

I'd love one but I was told recently that a t/belt change on them would blow your socks off

Most of the time it's necessary for the smooth running of the forum. Some of the time, however, I think it's harmful to the spirit of our community. Them's the rules and we can't change them, but it's no harm to reflect on the effect they have on Motors. When certain posters are banned it changes things for the rest of us.

Because I've been around for a long time, I care about this forum, and I think that RoverJames made a valuable contribution to it.

Im not really sure how to answer that:eek:.....but when I am talking to others who have watched it over along period of time, they are like "who is Tuco? I dont remember him." So yeah I had time to take it all in. I did end up going to bed at 3:30 in the morning once or twice.
