I would love if they showed Cavan but I doubt it. The last two years the BBC have shown deferred coverage of the Cavan game at six or seven.

I can't stand the BBC coverage due to Martin McHugh. He sticks the knife into Cavan wherever he can.

Last year, we gave a decent account of ourselves against Donegal losing by six points and he was still hugely negative.

Are you sure that the coverage by bbc in the past wasn't a delayed coverage of a 3.30pm throw in?

Bbc used to show all ulster games live but then one year a tyrone v armagh(or such very watchable) 3.30 game on bbc clashed with something like Sligo v Leitrim on rte at 4pm and the Connacht board threw a wobbler that their (far from glamourous) match was being undermined.

So now the rule is that bbc can only show games live if it's the game being shown in the south, I.e. is at a 2pm or 4pm Sunday slot or 7pm Saturday slot.

Armagh v Cavan and Galway v Mayo are both on live Sunday week. They showed a graphic at the end of League Sunday last Sunday.

Isn't it better than not showing them at all?

You very rarely see Clare, Tipperary, Offaly or Letrim on telly, all similarly as bad (or good, depending on how deluded you are) as Cavan.

    Rte "announced" their coverage today.
Lots of fancy words about the extensive coverage, indeed, blah blah blah.

No hint on what games are actually being covered except confirming the bleeding obvious that the Cavan Armagh game is the opener next week.

I'm sure they'll eventually announce what they are covering, rather than announcing coverage which we already knew they had a contract for.

RTÉ have confirmed via facebook some of the games they are showing so I've marked those saturday games now below.
Interestingly, Cavans (or Armaghs) route to the Ulster final is now to be televised in full.
Should either team go the whole way(what chance, but you can always hope!) then all their 7games incl all ireland final will be televised.
    Surely a first?

I know exactly what you mean.He is so biased against Cork too and never gives us credit. For years we were a boring team of athletes.Look at Donegals style and not a word about it.I cant wait to see what he makes of Cork playing the blanket defefence this year. They are playing Donegals system this year.

McHugh has an agenda against most counties TBH, he would only love to see Dublin divided up into two.

I think you will find that all Dublin and Kerry's games are covered nearly every year.

What has that got to do with anything?

Tipp, Clare, Offaly and Leitrim are on a par with Cavan. Cavan have done nothing in the last few years to warrant televising their games.

It has to do with those teams not being as good as Cavan.

Cavan have been hugely successful at underage level and have a blueprint for youth that alot of other counties are trying to follow.

I'd agree that Cavan have done nothing to warrant televising our games but we are of a better standard than the 4 teams you've named.

Anyway, if you want to debate the standard of Cavan football, there's a Cavan GAA thread where I'd be more than happy to discuss your opinion.

Ger Loughnane not involved with the RTE coverage this year? I hope he's ok healthwise.

This is a useful site to see what is on for about 10 days in advance. GAA is under Other Sports. Satellite TV only.

Surely the live matches on RTE and TV3 should be announced by now?

Crazy that the season has already begun, but no official word about the matches the broadcasters are showing.

RTE had a list of games scroll across the bottom of the screen during the game yesterday. I thought that was the games they were showing.

    another update,
Saturday the 29th of June will see 18 football teams involved in 8 qualifiers and 1 ulster match being played simultaneously
With all this action and RTÉs lack of transparancy its completely unknown what they might decide to show.

    Nevertheless, according to BBC twitter:
Both Ulster football semi-finals AND the final will be live on BBC TV & radio. #GAA
    https://twitter.com/bbcchampionship

meaning that the Cavan v Monaghan clash in Clones will be available on TV regardless of the RTE dislike for both teams and indecisiveness on what they are showing from the tv rights package that they have spent millions of tv licenceholders' cash on.

its an absolute disgrace that the waterford offaly qualifier and the kilkenny dublin leinster semi final aren't televised

Cavan are a step about all those. Only Tipp really have the capacity to become an overall better team than Cavan and that's because of their own underage success.

I did point that out at the time and Cavan have shown it themselves since.

Really? thats bad form alright. Waterford-Offaly could be a cracker with their summer on the line, Kilkenny-Dublin not so much if the dubs games with Wexford are anything to go by imo.

presumably they are showing the Ulster football because the BBC are providing cameras etc so its a reduced cost for RTE

Well they can't not show Donegal and down at the same time.

why can't they considering its on the bbc aswell!!!there is little enough hurling on television as it is without not showing provincial semi finals.
the waterford offaly game has the potential to be one of the games of the summer but again rte fail to show a hurling qualifier.

Also the Donegal Derry game could be quite good.

Donegal are the All Ireland Champions as well and really should have most of their games shown, and probably will. Same as Dublin the year before.

They really are a quality team with more than just Donegal people fascinated by their system.

its donegal down not derry.and why should donegal get tv coverage over kilkenny(and im a tipp man)who are also all ireland champions.i can't see why these can't be shown on rte 2 at 2 and 4 with tv3 showing cork clare at around 3.at least people would get the choice.there is absolutely no excuse for showing a confederations cup match sat nite over the hurling qualifier
