Eoin mentioned that tomorrow's pod will be about Ireland/England in Croker 10 years on with Jerry Flannery and Shane Horgan.

Think I'll be giving that one a miss.

A bit of a mythology has been built out of that game alright.

Reminds me to read that book the bloodied field! I even bought it on e-book after hearing the author interviewed (when the lads were still on Newstalk I think) but still haven't gotten around to reading it

Fla should be great. Brutally honest and quite funny. Not mad about Shaggy. I find the quality of the rugby coverage well below par compared to other sports. It's very basic.

Agreed about shaggy. Liked him when he first became a pundit, but now I just fast forward past him

Fine, but I would love to hear Murph debate Graham. If his ideas are that ludicrous then it should be quite easy to show that in a debate. Unless of course some of these ideas might actually be right........

But of course we don't need to worry about that, because we'll never hear that debate!! Glad SC get to censor views on our behalf! Yay! :D

Second Captains are not censoring views! This is an absolutely shocking point of view and completely wrong headed. What in the actual f*ck are you talking about?

They're under no obligation to express opinions you agree with. That isn't censorship.

The lads have spoken about where Trump and Brexit come from.
I don't know what balance people have expected. What form would the balance take? Anyone who listened to the lads' podcast over its existence and was surprised by their opinions on Trump and Brexit, must not have been paying attention.

The problem with Shaggy is the won't be going anywhere because he's Mark Horgan's brother.

I used to enjoy the rugby coverage but it has become very stale with it being 95% Shane Horgan and Gerry Thornley. They had someone different (Shane Jennings?) on a couple of weeks ago and it was much more interesting.

Their sister has also done pretty well for herself. Sharon Horgan created, writes and stars in the excellent Catastrophe which is returning for the third season on Channel 4 this week. She also created and writes for Divorce, the HBO show with Sarah Jessica Parker.

Here she is getting in a sneaky plug for SC on Catastrophe http://img2.thejournal.ie/inline/1917200/original/?width=521&version=1917200

Didn't they say Lee Keegan would be on the show on Monday during the soccer show? Wonder why that hit the skids.

Nothing much as a show today. Maybe it was the lack of Trump mentions but felt a bit watery. Thought they should have asked Ken for a prediction or analysis of the Monaco City game.

    Wasn't intended to be snarky.

I just don't like rugby so it wouldn't be worth my time listening.

So what you meant was you didn't hear the show because you pressed fast forward through yesterdays show once andy lee came on? I thought you meant something else.

I guess if this threads highlights anything its that you just cant please all the people all the time.

    I dont like politics,
    I dont like shane horgan
    I dont like boxing
    Etc etc

Sometimes it highlights that. Other times it highlights that a poster might like Rugby or GAA but find SC's coverage unremarkable compared to other podcasts. Hopefully it something they work on both in terms of quality of analysis and variety of analysts. They need to.

Enjoyed the chat with Horgan and Flannery, like Rugby or not, it was a big event in our sporting history so it was worthy of a reflective piece.

Ken's brothers Grimm reference was great 'John Hayes' emotion was like the magic pot that couldn't stop spewing porridge' also enjoyed his rant about the Sutton goalie, was funny that Murph got riled up about it too.

In fairness to him, Murph made a good point - without saying literally once - about the boomingly inane music you have to sit through in grounds and stadiums everywhere before the action starts. Please God make it stop.

Musical interludes are used across pretty much all forms of aural media.. Plus the second captains ones are brilliantly conceived and put together.
Every single one of them are 100% terrible and are wwwwaaayy too long. I'm fine with a musical interlude on a podcast if it's 10-20 seconds long but on second captains it's the same 1-2 minute long, badly mixed, nonsense over and over and over again. I'd prefer if they played an ad instead. It would be less annoying.

I think they are well thought out, superbly mixed and pretty hilarious. I also feel that they are an integral part of my enjoyment of the pod since it's inception!!

My fav is the mix Horgan did over Villagers 'Courage' after the Euros. Absolute gold.

Against my own judgment I listened to the Ireland England 10 years on pod and really enjoyed. Not a rugby buff by any standard but I thought it was a great way to spend an hour or so.
