People are paying for podcasts Monday to Friday. They have been from the start and they still are. So what exactly are they not getting?

I signed up for the World Cup like many others under the impression that there was daily podcasts. There isn't.
its only a ****ing fiver a month ! whats the big problem. 5-6 pods a week for 4 weeks, some lads need to cop on.

What is this **** as well? It's not a fiver a month. We don't live in America and last time I checked the lads were Irish so I don't know why they're going around quoting prices ex vat. That can get in the bin.

I'm a bit torn over this. I love SC and have been subscriber since day 1. I love the content mostly (although i have no interest whatsoever with GAA coverage).

I do think the "daily" podcasts lark was a bit misleading the world cup isn't just held on weekdays so to try sell it as daily coverage is slightly misleading. Much like the "fiver a month.........................plus VAT".

In saying that i'm happy to pay the 6 euro and change on them per month but i can see why people are a little annoyed with the world cup coverage so far.

    Daily means daily.

Daily doesn't mean most days, or some days or weekdays.

If I tell you I will give you €50 daily, you'll be damn sure to expect it everyday.

I hope they clarify it today, as it could be construed as a bit of a sales pitch to drive up subs.
But a more realistic comparison, if you said you'd give me 20 cent a day for 3 weeks and missed the weekends, I wouldn't give a shít. Isn't it about 20 cent an episode?

You should make your own Podcast previewing it, then listen to that instead of whinging on here

They once did a Friday night show after an Ireland match...that was good...something similar discussing Spain V Ronaldo last Friday night would have been super.

And what if it had finished 0-0 and was a stinker ?

pretty sure there would be something worth talking about after the second day of a WC.

    Uruguay v Egypt
    Iran v Morocco

They were the other games on Friday, cant imagine there would be a scramble to listen to that

This has all gone a bit mad.

These two plus the Spain - Portugal thriller (which did happen) are obviously worth discussing.

But, jesus, the fact that there are 3 games in a day means it's likely one of them will be exciting enough to discuss, going by the remarkable criteria being put forward here.

For the rest of us, the starting point is every game at the biggest sporting event in the world should be discussed.

I think releasing a podcast which will be completely out of date in about 12 hours is a complete waste of time.

Does that apply to today's pod?

That makes no sense at all.

They could do a 20min pod if there wasn't much to talk about.

Todays is not solely previewing todays games, its reviewing the weekends action

If they release a pod Friday night previewing 4 games on Saturday then 12 hours or so later the first game kicks off that part of the pod is completely out of date., the next game kicks off at 2. I'd imagine they are not worth the hassle especially considering some of the nations involved.

I want the team to come around to my house, talk about Iran Vs Morocco for an hour, do my fantasy football subs and captain choice and then Ken to tuck me into bed while Murph and Eoin reads the Gruffalo. They better do the voices of all the characters too. Mark Horgan can stick around and have breakfast ready the next morning while Simon washes the car. I pay €5 a month ffs, it's ridiculous how little I get for my money. If Horgan overdoes the toast or doesn't include mushrooms, I'll be on here to express my rage!

This thread has gone crazy over the last week or 2!

    This.

Nothing dramatic, no getting in a tizzy about what daily does or doesn't mean, but when something seismic happens it would be good for them to pull something together. It doesn't happen that often.

It hasn't really though. The only issue is the expectations of some listeners versus the actual output. Some, myself included, thought the coverage would be a bit more extensive than what has, so far, been delivered.

In truth, as someone else pointed out earlier, SC is a sports pod not solely football, so given the GAA Championship is in full flight and the Ireland v Australia games recently, they can't dedicate all their time to the WC.

I'm not disappointed with the coverage as such, I just expected a bit more, maybe one or two bonus pods over the opening weekend to cover the action and talking points, especially given the turnover of games in the first two weeks of the tournament. It's not enough to turn me off subscribing, I like what the SC lads do and the quality of their regular output for the fee is, for me, value for money.

Genuinely wondering, has anyone that has aired their dissatisfaction about the World Cup coverage tweeted or emailed Second Captains about it?

I haven't. Hadn't actually thought of it, but might now that you mention it.

    10827 x 5 = a decent monthly income

Why would they bother with extra work.

I don't blame them, but it's quite obvious they're coasting.

A good few people have tweeted them about it. They haven't responded to anyone as far as I can see.

It becomes a bigger problem in the last round of 16 with 8 of the teams playing over the weekend. There will also be no reaction to any of the quarter final games as they are happening on a Friday and Saturday.
