Is Ken not a Utd fan?

He's always done that. The trick is to not get annoyed or wound up by it. Remember he used to wind up Celtic supporters? He'll give credit when it's due, it's just United or Mourinho don't deserve any atm

Don't know. People usually say he supports Liverpool

I seem to remember him giving Brendan Rogers quite a lot of the treatment a few years back.

That was more just taking the piss out his David Brent like behaviour and was actually pretty funny. The Mourinho stuff has been going on for the last 18 months with the exception being the time in between Chelsea sacked him and United appointed him.

So it's funny when it's the then Liverpool manager, but out of order when it's the current ManU manager? Hmmm...

Any opinions from people who aren't on Patreon. I only listen to the Monday football pod now and the quality is diabolical lately. It's gone from my favourite podcast to something I'll listen to when I've everything else listened to.

Not quite the same I think but they should be careful with their agendas. I know one of my Liverpool supporting mates never really went back to them after the constant barbs at Brodge. People don't mind criticism but their agendas wear me down.

The world really has gone mental.

Agenda? To what end? It's not as if they're trying to influence the electorate or something else that might require an agenda.

Their agenda (I mean, come ON!) is to point out where a high profile manager is going right and going wrong.

It's sort of a common enough thing in sports broadcasting.

I just know what they are going to say about certain things once the name is mentioned. It's a tiresome one way street.

Honestly its hardly believable that grown adults are being "turned off" by criticism of their chosen football teams manager. You wouldn't see a child behave like that. I listen to plenty of football podcasts and read plenty of commentators I and don't see any major difference in the criticism aimed at Mourinho now by various pundits or at Rodgers back then. I'm genuinely flabbergasted as to how someone could be so upset they stop listening to a podcast.

If you want to put your head in the sand and ignore all critics of your team then there are plenty of club focused pods out there, getting annoyed because you feel Ken is being too harsh on your team is madness.

I could understand complaints from fans of other clubs that Man Utd are getting the most attention at the moment but it wasn't long ago that Arsenal were the main focus, its whatever is happening at the time. Right now, Man Utds woeful league performances and Mourinhos laughable interviews are the main story, its not like theres much else to talk about in the PL.

I'm a Liverpool fan who initially, vigorously disagreed with Ken's core premise about Rodgers. But I have a thick enough skin to engage with those who hold differing opinions. And it turned out Ken was on to something, as it happens. Your mate surely can't argue otherwise.

I can't say, I'm not a man united fan. I just don't need to be listening to a broken record.

I think this is to be expected - they were never going to put their best niche topics on the freebie - it ll prob get worse once the gaa gets going and having to listen to michael duigan chat sh1te.

By the way i m a member and loving it. Its the best £5 i spend a month!

Couldn't the same broken record accusation be direction at you? You don't like... fair enough. I would prefer if Murph wasn't on the football show, but i don't expect them to change that for my benefit. I'm sure most people have bits of their output that they prefer over other bits, but they can't please everybody. Overall I think they are doing a good job.

It's the reason I bit the bullet and purchased it last week. They have just kept their better content for the other days podcasts which is understandable.

It seems to me that off the ball and second captains are sharing a lot of the same guests the last few weeks. Same content they are talking about too

Yeah its happening a lot more since SC went daily, the used to pick and choose who's book to promote but now they can do a lot more and they get in ahead of OTB as well

My complaint isn't that hes having a go at the Man Utd manager its that its been done to death now, talk about something else. The "Report on Sport" consists of him picking at every Mourinho sound bite from that weekend.

Do you think it would help if Mourinho stopped talking b*llocks?

Which is more likely ? Ken changing the subject or Mourinho changing his attitude ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,777 ✭✭✭✭lawred2

    this is getting circular

It's ironic how much you guys want to talk about not wanting to talk about Mourinho.

You are right. Let's talk about how much we talk about not wanting to talk about Mou instead.

Yes, that certainly is a fair point.

Just a word of warning re todays podcast:

It features Jacob Steinberg, presumably uming and awing whilst saying nothing of note.

As if it's necessary, in the interest of balance I should point out that I can't stand them man. If you're going to put yourself out there as a speaker at least make an effort to speak properly. Familiar with his all too frequent contributions to Football Weekly I was never so glad of my fast forward button.

Jacob Steinberg always sounds like a really dry passive aggressive pain.
