    Hot FM carrier now off.

Easy where also off on Sunday - Facebook page is also down.

No pirates on in Dublin this morning afaik - can't receive RetroNow normally.

So essentially, the tactic has worked

    1. Let a rumour leak out to the community

    2. Carry out a commando raid on an easy target at the border

    Bingo !!

What will our regulator now to with the drive in movies and churches which remain

Demolish the steeples on the churches ? Arrest the organisers at the drive in movies and crush their cars/vehicles?

Same law being broken, question needs to be answered

Hot FM are still on FM at the moment (with audio). If they are able to stay on for the rest of the month then that pretty much quashes the rumour.

I don't know the full situation with the pirate on the border, but I imagine complaints via the UK authorities was a factor. So this may have been already on the cards and unrelated to the rumour.

Just my opinion, I welcome other theories. :)

I wasn't listening intently yesterday but I thought I picked up Easy at some stage yesterday.

At times over the weekend it was available on 94.3 (other times this was a carrier).

Energy Power AM was on during the course of the weekend on 1395 kh (215 metres) Medium Wave, and being streamed on 99.5 FM. When I heard it yesterday evening, there was a live broadcast, taking requests. I think Paul Murray was the presenter.

Maybe the mountain site operator got a warning that's why there off. That has happened before.

Easy FM Facebook page now restored with an update saying that the station will remain online and move forward in a new direction.

I assume this means the end of FM broadcasting

Best of luck Paul with your latest project.

One thing that has occurred to me recently is that a kind of temporary licensed oldies station could be interesting. Yes, I know it's been done before with Premier FM! I'm thinking of a setup like the "fun radio" thing that has been done a few times (unlicensed then of course!), where people associated with different oldies-oriented stations pooled resources. On those occasions, it involved the use of a number of frequencies as well. This time there would not be, unless the license included an AM option as well as FM.

Such a licensed operation could have a lot of experienced presenters like:
Paul Wilson and Damien O'Neill - Easy and some Retro FM,
Paul Murray and Brian Kelly - Energy Power AM,
Mike Doyle and Derek Jones - Retro FM (and licensed Premier FM!)
and some of the presenters from CharityRadio.ie (they were involved with a few "Fun Radio" ventures before).
Maybe some of the presenters from Pirate FM, who heretofore were not involved with these joint ventures, could be part of it as well.

And who knows where that might lead...

Sunshine seems to be a mostly Oldies/Gold type station.

It's all easy listening-oriented music. There is much more variety in the type of music played in the oldies stations I listed above, especially Energy and Pirate FM.

The days of temporary licences are in the past imho with a few exceptions.

College temps used to dominate the lists of temporary stations but many /all ? Pulled out with the increasing costs and requirements.
Choice / Rock / Premier etc where all proof of concept stations ie showing there was a demand for the services they could offer - there are no licences on offer so thats ended that stream of temps
Which leaves the specialist eg Christmas

IF you had the money and could persuade the BAI to give you a temporary licence and you wanted to run an oldies format the restrictions that would be placed on your playlist would render the project useless imho.

Re Sunshine - they have a very restricted playlist and Easy would have affected their listener numbers imho

Received about 80 DAB/DAB+ stations on the south coast from the UK, probably from Wales

Anyone with a shortwave receiver in Dublin might be able to hear the pirate from Dundalk on 3905 kHz. Good signal on the Mayo SDR where it is marked as Radio Sovereign. A while back it was on 3400, and they have put question marks there. Until it went to 3400 it was only a local signal round Dundalk, but they must have upped the power. Has been on 1494 a lot in the past and about a dozen other frequencies above 1600 and in the 6 MHz band. Strong harmonic in Dundalk on 7810 as well.

It does play a lot of Radio Sovereign recordings, but is just a hobby pirate which never identifies itself.

UK stations romping in again this evening. BBC Radio 1 strong on 97.7/98.9/99.5 around Cork Harbour. Would be very listenable but for local stations on 97.8/98.8/99.6

This is very true. The BAI don't even update the list of upcoming temporary stations anymore. The last city wide station (for Dublin) was probably Christmas FM, and I don't even recall many others in 2019.

Capital Wales coming into Goatstown in Dublin on 103.0

    Heart on 107.2

The FM relay for Energy 1395 seems to have moved up the band to 104.1 (taking a bit of a beating from adjacent ILR stations plus Shannonside/Northernsound on the same channel)

Can’t understand why they don’t use 91.6 or something?

104.1 seems to have disappeared but Energy now being relayed on 99.5.

The Beach has sprung back to life too. They were playing their usual chill out stuff on 105.7
