New scoring format certainly working for them on day 1. If Thomas had of shot 65/66 it would have taken 25 players out of it.

Solid start by McIlroy with a few missed putts thrown in. Xander is a serious operator.

Great hole in one from Chez Reavie on the 9th hole using a hybrid!

I must say I like the last par 5.

Slight possible eagle but also bogeably, Greater varience makes it more exciting then par 5s that are eagle birdie par very slim bogey chance

Much better course without the par 3 as the 18th.

    He meant it though :P

I was sure his ball moved on the pine straw just as he was lifting his club to tell JT to hit first. Someone rewind and agree with me

Play called off for the day. Lightning struck a tree on course injuring 6 fans. 5 hospitalised but all responsive. Hopefully they all recover soon

Rory already finds himself with a two shot lead after 7 holes. Big opportunity for him now.

Edit: didn’t last long as Xander just had a hole in one

Koepka needed that birdie to set up the last pairing of himself and Rory. Hopefully it goes better for Rory this time, than it did last month at the WGC St Jude Invitational, where Rory had the one stroke lead going into Sunday. Rory's putting was brutal in the last round. I think he was the only player out of the top 10 to shoot over par in the final round.

Current top 10 or final top 10?

Xander was In the hole before Rory but Rory is in the final group. Is it based on who puts their card in first? Seems quite arbitrary

Isn't it crazy that Reavie has 21 career hole in 1's, and a fellow pro, a very successful one too in Schauffele, scored his first ever just there! I always assumed these guys would have a good few, maybe not 21, but definitely more than none!

No idea but you'd imagine not being in the final group would have suited McIlroy.

Will be interesting to see if he can deal with the fire from Brooks. Advantage obviously to Brooks being a shot ahead but Rory has the ability to go toe to toe with Brooks.

Wow, anyone see Rose? Just duffed 3 chips in a row there, lost the head.

Final round scoring average ranks this season:

    Thomas 8th
    Koepka 12th
    Casey 28th
    Schauffele 40th
    McIlroy 50th

Doesn’t bode well for Rory. Going with Xander for the W. Great record around east lake

    Brooks with another ridiculous putt.

I know Radar just said it and it shouldn't matter but seeing McIlroy wearing pink doesn't exactly instill confidence.
