And up to -6 now thru 12. Leaders at -11.
Scoring seems a bit better today.

Have a look at Justin Walters front 9.
6 birdies and an eagle had him 8 under at the turn.

Crikey, and he's on the easier course, so could go incredibly low today.

    The 59 is gone.
4 pars and a bogey on the back.

Nearly the European Tours first proper 59.

Dammit - never seen a 59 on TV. Still a great round.

I'm sorry to see Peter Lawrie struggling today after his fine 67 yesterday. He's playing on the more difficult course today and is 3 over after nine and 2 under overall. Cut mark looks like being 4 under or possibly even 5 under. Difficult tournament to make the cut in with 210 players in the field.

Another good day day for Kevin Phelan - tied 11th.

Kevin Phelan off to a flyer this morning. 4 under for the round after 7, -13 for the tournament. Tied for 2nd just 1 off the lead.

Still about 20 guys who could win it.

Top 10 finish I think would get Kevin in to next week's event.

Anything possible now though. We might have a winner on both sides of the Atlantic :)

Woah! Just seen this and turned on TV! Good man Kevin!

Solo lead now, only 4 shots between top 30 though, some sprint!!!!

Winning prize today is €206,050 + a 1 year exemption, which would be nice.

Forgot there's a place in the Open at St Andrew's for the top 3 today as well.

Still very crowded leaderboard. Advantage i'd fear is with the guys who have the extra holes to play. 1 or 2 of them at least are bound to go on a birdie blitz.

Some difference from the Indian Open last week when nobody seemed to want to win it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,536 ✭✭✭Dolph Starbeam

He has a great chance to get in the clubhouse and set a score, a couple more birdies and hopefully he'll at least secure a top 3 for a ticket to the Open.

Terrific final round by Phelan today. Tie for 2nd will get him just over €80,000 I reckon.

Pity he misses out on 1 of the Open spots though due to his inferior world ranking.

Keep an eye out for Steve Webster this week. 297 club.

Looks like Peter Lawrie has got himself another invite this week.

So, back to South Africa.....it all seems very quiet after the excitement of the Honda on Monday! Anyway, Kevin Phelan going along nicely at -2, tied 7th after 13 holes. Hell of a wind there today, and it seems to be difficult.

3 birdies in a row for Phelan puts him joint 1st with 1 hole left in his round :)

EDIT: Now has the lead on his own after Richard Bland's final score was updated to a 68 instead of 67

Great to see him at the head of affairs all on his own now. Not going so well for Peter Lawrie unfortunately.

Don't think we'll see Steve continue on from Hahn & Harrington

Already has a birdie today after just 3 holes. Damina McGrane has a nice round going too.

Does anyone know what happened to Darren Clarke at the first this morning? According to the live scoring on the European Tour website, he started with a 10!
