They didn't know where he was from Monday up until 18 hours ago and didn't feel the need to shut down the city. Why not do what they were doing successfully 24 hours ago by waiting for them to make a mistake, which they did. It could be argued if he can get away this long without having been more than 5 miles from the city, then someone more prepared with more financial backing etc will win.

TBH i was more in fear last night when i went to bed when at the time some randomer just shot and killed a MIT Police Officer. The fear of the unknown and uncertainty is more fearful than being on Lockdown when i know the Police are everywhere. I feel very safe at the moment.

The twitter histeria is going to happen regardless of lockdown, it happened Monday when the city wasn't on lockdown.

But the current suspect at large, by all accounts, had integrated quite well (the older brother, not so much).

Given the other mass killing events of the last few months perpetrated by native-born Americans, blaming a propensity for violence on 'home country effects' or religious affiliation is ridiculous. The sad reality of American society is that violence has become normal; perhaps this kid assimilated all to well?

Perhaps. I was just drawing a parallel in response to another post who initiated a comparison with Irish emigration.
