That's the 1868 cc lucas non turbo boyo with 68bhp ;)

Is the lucas pump the one that doesn't like veg oil as much - i seem to recall that on XUD (i realise mind that this ones probably a DW8) there was two type of pump and one of the two was more happier with veg oil

It was actually an option to have a bloody fridge between the two rear seats in those instead of a middle seat.

The show car at the Frankfurt Auto Show had an espresso machine in it ! I'd take that over a fridge :) .

Sadly it never became a series option. :(

Supposed to be a very comfortable car nonetheless. I know a couple of Germans who owned them and they were very impressed with them.

Spot on on both points. The lucas pump will take veg but don't leave it to sit in the pump when non operational, my understanding is it eats the seals in the pump and gums up the galleries

    NCT till July, 1250

Taxed till May. Very few of these to be seen

LOL, remember in the late 80's after the year based registrations were implemented, the epidemic of cars being driven for months with no plates at all, just a little bit of cardboard with FOR REG on it or else FOR REG scrawled on with the Yellow Marking Crayon likt the NCT guys mark worn bushings, etc... with. For those too young to remember, people would basically buy a new car mid year but hold off until the following January to register it, to get the new year plate.

I remember that well - the trend of driving cars around unregistered - whole idea behind it was - buy a car in October - at a good price - then in Jan - put the next years plate on it :D

Think they changed it around 1991 - they bought in a rule to say the car had to be registered in the same year it was sold.

Ireland been Ireland - from what I recall - the actual rule - if applied to the letter of the law stated it had to be the year the car was MADE.

This obviously wasn't practical - so in effect - it was the year you bought the car.

Then in 1993 - Revenue took over the registering of new cars - and the car had to be registered before leaving the dealers yard - by the dealer (current system)

The metallic silver really suits it :)

We think of Silver as been a very boring colour - since so many cars are that colour.

But back in the days of the Volvo 940, Renault 25 and Ford Granada - metallic silver would have been a very nice colour to have on your car.

Wierdly I tend to look at car colours in the context of their era - so if (unlikely as they are rare now) I saw a Renault 25 in metallic silver - id think yup colour suits the car - it looks well.

But on a Focus 1.6 tdci - I thin meh - boring - just why go for that colour

Now that's bangernomics. Good find there.

I actually drove a Suzuki Jimny there today, grand little thing. Not bad for a 1.3l. Tore round the field :pac:

They either hold their value well or are all overpriced though. Nothing bangernomics.
