just tell her that the shoes and handbags budget is been cut back for 6 months - job done.

And point out that the whole family can share the joys of an E 39 5 series wheras handbags and high heels are not much fun to you :D.

    Joking btw :)

Fair points JohnBoy the car does probably look a bit ropey around the edges but as I say a drive and examination of the car would tell a lot. Sometimes, not all the time mind but sometimes the more slightly beat up looking cars can be the ones that are better underneath.

Its just I was getting a hugh craving for the more fancy 306's during the week and thats why I posted;) I was considering one when I was changing at one stage once. Drove about 3 or 4 hdi's and a gti. All the hdi's looked a hell of a lot better in the photos than in reality. Still though they were all nice to drive. Fantastic looking cars too in my opinion especially in the right colour and assuming they haven't being totally molested.
Maybe I was a bit harsh in my post above but those eat sleep jdm type stickers on the back screen, the number plates, and the way insurance the disc holder is mounted on the windscreen screams boy racer mobile to me.

That coupled with the replacement front number has alarm bells ringing. As you say though a good inspection will tell a lot. Who knows, maybe Im putting 2+2 together and coming up with 5.

I have to agree with you on the 306s though, they are a good looking car in 3dr form. It's hard to find a decent example nowadays though. It seems like the Honda civics they have fallen into the wrong hands.

    Thats a really good suggestion..
If the E39 works out to be a good buy its a decision I would never regret..

Months. . Maybe even years of happy motoring!

Looks good but I hate ads like this where the pictures are terrible. None of the pics show the full car and there are no interior shots. Pisses me off...

Bad ads often make for a good deal!
A car that's not advertised well (due to bad pics/description) often wont get much attention and the owner might be more inclined to bargain than someone who has a the same car for sale with a good ad and loads of calls.

Looks clean and it is cheap, but they're awful things.

Will do someone for a year I guess, get €200 or so when the test expires.

Hard to argue a case for one over a 2.3t
Maybe its more reliable and smoother but still.

    Honda Prelude, 2.0i, NCT 2/14, €590

Admittedly a short test, but after a bit of haggling you could get it for €500 or so and hope it doesn't need to much come March

    Alfa Romeo 166, 2.0 petrol, NCT 8/14, €1250

Only 2 owners with service history and low mileage. The only thing that stands out as negative is the mismatched interior.

I see that Alfa has been reduced again (the JTD one) was 1250e I think not too long ago.
Show up with 800e and you're off I'd say

Don't think I've ever seen anyone post something like this about an English car on an Irish website:
comfortable big car with a bit of extra "schnell" as they say

    Class :D

    My ads on adverts.ie:

Victron stuff for sale, Multiplus-II, Quattro, other inverters and batteries and usually some watches!

Sorry now unkel, don't want to fall out with you and do generally find you to be a great contributor and mod but felt I needed to pull you up on them few comments.

Relax dude that part of my post was nothing but a rant :)

That aside I would be interested if someone could pull up real figures about engine size in private cars. As a guess I'd say that 99% of private cars sold on or after 01/01/2008 have engines smaller than 2l

    Makes me sad :(

Lads, re that S type. Would I be correct in saying the 4.0 V8 model was called the S Type R?

You could hardly call a Saab 95 a rocket, unless that was sarcasm I didn't pick up on...

    Indeed. Not very Honda-ish though.
