Axa insured me on a 1994 car last week, no questions.

Yes , but you are not new business.

All I'm saying is that Yes , absolutely a 00 Yaris was worth 1400'a few weeks ago but not now ,

given the withdrawal of two major insurance player from the over 15 insurance market and the remaining ones KNOWiNG this.

What insurance companies are quoting NEW drivers on over 15 year old cars now ?

Im a new driver and I got various quotes for a '98 Vw Passat 1.9tdi. Very reasonable too IMO.

If you have a clean Yaris or Corolla (hatchback) of that generation then you would have no problem selling one.

No bags off so it shouldn't be a huge repair job but one headlamp is completely buggered. .

Nice barge though always wanted one..

She ain't worth €15k fixed with near a quarter of million kms on her. I really like them though, but that one I wouldn't go near, front crossmember is completely bent on it.

    That's a 200k car I'd guess. Why a fixerupper though?

Did it just fail on the rust on the wing?

Nope, failed on bottoms of the doors, and rust around the bootlock too.

It would be infinitely more saleable if you wacked a load of filler in and got the pass cert.

Not for cosmetic stuff that isn't primary structure.

It needs welding really, I doubt filler would do the job to be honest.
Would be a great buy for anyone handy with a welder

Just to get it through the test though.

Even getting that through a test would still only have it worth €750-€800 quid. It's a 17 year old high tax manual diesel Mercedes with rust issues. It will only have a limited market.

I like it, and I'd buy it and drive it though, just I'm not in the right country!

Note I said saleable and not valuable.

If you had a hole in the wing you wouldn't be shocked though.

That old merc is only fit for a Sundays molesting on forestry roads. Weld up the diff and have some fun with it.

    Yeah!

    Actually no.
That's one person I won't be selling it to anyway.
