Brimmage cought him cleanly and with force on several occasions and he didn't so much as wobble. I've not seen any evidence that Conor desperately needs to raise his guard. His head movement and footwork are so good that he rarely gets caught and the few times he does get tagged, he seems to take it very well.

    Why fix what aint broke...

I agree with your point, but with his stance and defense would he not be suspect to head kicks?. Fair enough he can avoid the haymakers but with head kicks there is far more range and a good kick boxer like Siver could cause him trouble

BTW that rolling kick he tried in the 1st round was gas :pac:

Conor has a few inches reach on Siver though, plus Siver has a very compact style with his punches.

I think the reach difference would be a big factor in that fight.

Ariel gave an update on Conor's knee.
Conor McGregor suffered a minor sprain of his LCL. Doesn't appear serious. He
is going to have an MRI this week

was that supposed to be a kick?? i thought he was rolling closer to go straight for a mad take down..that or a tribute to robbie keane.

Nah man. He messed it up. Holloway was supposed to be coming forward. He said it was something from large that he had been working on and spoke about it in an interview afterwards.

Conor reminds me a lot of Cowboy Cerrone - amazing kickboxer but very upright. Cerrone got taken apart with kicks to the body by Pettis so would be interesting to see how Conor would cope with such a strategy. Every fighter is different though.

Machida is very upright yet rarely caught with anything. I think too much is being made of Conors stance

Yeah but Machinda doesn't move forward the way COnor does. MAchida never really looks to engage, he looks to counter and moves backwards A LOT!

Not saying its related in anyway to the UFC event but strange coincidence Irish man found badly beaten in Boston early Sunday morning.

UPDATE: IrishCentral has identified the man in question as Gary Halpin (33), a native of Cobh, County Cork, who worked as a graphic designer.

An Irish immigrant was viciously attacked and left for dead in the quiet neighborhood of Adams Village, in Boston, in the early hours of Sunday morning (August 18).

He is currently listed as in serious condition at Boston Medical Center after sustaining life threatening injuries.

According to police spokeswoman Katherine Shea, the Irishman, in his 30s, was discovered unconscious near the corner of Gallivan Blvd and Adams St, in the Dorchester section of Boston, by police, who received a phone call around 4.14am, on Sunday morning.

Boston police are withholding the identity of the victim, who was savagely beaten just a few blocks from his home.

Conflicting reports exist about the events that led up to the alleged incident at Adam’s Corner. Although the police were tight-lipped on the circumstances of the attack, they are asking anyone who may have been in the area or who many have any information to come forward.

IrishCentral's sister publication in Boston, The Irish Emigrant, received an appeal from a friend of the victim, asking anyone with any information to contact the authorities. She described the man as from Cobh, County Cork and living in Boston, with his wife and three-year-old daughter.

Residents and businesses alike in the predominantly Irish neighborhood were still reeling on Monday, that an assault with such brutality had taken place on their doorstep. Adams Village is considered to be one the safest parts of Dorchester with a very close-knit community and this attack which has left a man fighting for his life only served to remind the locals of the tragic case of Ciaran O Conghaile , an Irish man who was murdered as he walked home in the same area in October, 2011.

Boston police investigating the events of this assault are appealing to anyone with information to please come forward so they can build an accurate timeline leading up to the discovery of this man’s unconscious body. The authorities can be contacted at 1-800-494-TIPS or by texting 27463; individuals contacting the police also have an option of remaining anonymous.

Anyone hesitant to contact police directly, because of their immigration status, can contact the Irish Pastoral Centre at 617 265-5300 or the Irish International Immigrant Centre at 617-542-7654. Any information you have may be critical in solving this crime.

The man in question is not a drunk, not a fighter, not an illegal, married with a lovely wife and baby, simply out to watch the martial arts fight. There are no suspects Knockagowna so how you can say they are from the same place is beyond me? Unless you know something in which case tell the police please. There's a lot of rubbish being talked here. Leave it alone please.

That is very true, I have read a lot of stuff about his stance (wide) makes it easier for guys to take him down. Technically there is some truth to that but guys who can judge the distance and strike like Conor can be the exception to the rule.

That may be but Machida still has some of the highest takedown defense in the UFC iirc.

I thought the tweet was a bit silly myself. Not sure about Mendes and Edgar being too small, I think these would be his biggest threats in the division. Sounds open to KZ or Koch, who are probably the easiest options in that list.

I doubt they're meant to be taken absolutely seriously.

Obviously. However he has been talking the talk well and winding people up but I just thought it was a silly tweet. Not here to criticize but Im not going to say everything he does is absolutely wonderful like too many do currently.

Well then people need to get over themselves and not take this seriously :)

    Ok :s

I reckon Brandao is odds on for next opponent after expressing his desire to fight him. Fight makes sense (win streaks, timing etc.)

I think Cub Swanson would destroy McGregor - big fan of both but Cub's stand up just seems to get better and better every time he fights.

Regardless who McGregor fights nights its a lively division so it will be good (Fingers crossed it wont be a gabbling snore fest)

I disagree but its certainly not impossible. I think the fact they wont rush him leads me to think when he starts fighting the likes of Swanson (Top 5 ranked opponents) that he will have improved also.

Most exciting division at the moment

    2955 think McGregor beats Brandau

    http://www.mmafighting.com/2013/8/21/4644690/diego-brandao-conor-mcgregor-ufc-mma-news

McGregors got reach, cardio, footwork and better striking variety and technique on Brandau.

Brandau is powerful and dangerous once he gets close enough but Conor will see those haymakers comin from a mile away and could tire him out over 2 rounds and then pick him apart.

Good fight, good scalp to take.

I imagine Poirier doesn't appreciate the peahead jab.... he'll be lookin for a bite at McGregor methinks : )

Haha yeah I think when Conor gets through Brandoa he'll fight Porier or Koch. I like Porier but I think Conor will mess his little Pea Head up bad.

Great fighter but I think the lads who have beat him, have improved since then and will be in the mix in 2014 still. Cant see him beat any of them in a rematch

I just noticed that MMA Junkie have McGregor on the show today. Not sure if on the phone or in-studio, probably the former.

I don't think so, I've had it on since 5:15 and this same lad was already being interviewed.

    Destroy?....no. Tough fight?......definitely.

I like Cub, and he's improved dramatically in the last while. That's a fight I'd love to see but maybe not yet.
I'm a fan of both guys so if hate to see them fight now and one of them take a step back.
