EDIT - Apparently the one on the left is her own child. This, however, was Hope, the 2-year-old little boy on the left, last March...

...and these are more recent photos of him.

This mare lost her foal. Two days later this foal lost her Mom. Here they are an hour after meeting.

Bram came to the Ezelshoeve Foundation, a donkey sanctuary in the Netherlands, in March 2014. He came along with three mares, from elderly owners who could not look after them properly. The good people at the sanctuary tried their hardest to nurse him back to health, but he didn’t improve. They had to make the decision to euthanize him. After Bram passed away, the other donkeys at the sanctuary began to make distressed noises and crowded around their friend’s body. The sanctuary’s founders are convinced that the donkeys were in mourning – stating that they have made the same noises (which is very different to their usual brays) after the passing of other companions. Perhaps the most heartbreaking moment of all, is when one of the devastated donkeys tries nipping at an unresponsive Bram in a bid to wake him.

A belief in gender identity involves a level of faith as there is nothing tangible to prove its existence which, as something divorced from the physical body, is similar to the idea of a soul. - Colette Colfer

Wait, what? So the dog starts off standing, then throws his back legs out behind him and pushes them along the ground while walking backwards... did I get that right?

It was a piss poor attempt at a joke, namely that the dog starts out fine, then ends up ****ed :D

In the meantime, have some more of these!

Some of these may very well be reposts, but they all came in one image here so I thought it'd be easier to leave them as they were.

Canadian band The Tragically Hip have been on a small Farewell Tour, which ended Saturday night in Kingston, Ontario, their hometown. Unlike most Farewell tours, however, there is no chance they will reform and tour again, since lead singer & main songwriter Gord Downie is terminally ill with brain cancer. The concert was streamed live by CBC, and among the attendees last night was Prime Minister Justin Trudeau:

Gord is the cat in the hat:

From out there on the moon, international politics look so petty. You want to grab a politician by the scruff of the neck and drag him a quarter of a million miles out and say, ‘Look at that, you son of a bitch’.

Bit of background on this one. I was emailing the wife as we were both in work yesterday and I was saying that I'm just heading home to our dog, she said she'd be home later as she was working late to go straight to the airport to pick up her brother. I sent her this picture in a joking "it's ok we'll wait for you". I googled "sad westie" on Images and they were a few funny ones but this caught my eye.
I clicked on the Visit Page and it brought me to an irish forum for pet owners, for a 2011 thread. The poor fella was lost and handed into the dog home and it was the penultimate day for adoption, those on the thread were sharing the details on the FB pages trying to get him a new home.
I know the fact animals are put to sleep is an every day occurrence but what really struck me is the look on his face, clinging to the wall and ears back. Our dog, also a westie, had the same look before we took her in just over 2 months ago. For anyone that knows Westies, they're immensely proud, cocky and confident little things and their ears are almost always up. They just look broken inside like this. Thankfully our wee one is absolutely flying now.
Sorry for the spiel, here's the picture.
