Most miserable, awkward podium since Austria 2002?

I know team orders are legal now and are part of the sport but they still leave a bad taste in my mouth, especially this early in the season. They should just let the guys RACE. Hamilton not too happy being gifted that podium at all but at least he was gracious enough to acknowledge Nico in the post-race interview.

    Roll on China.

Fair enough racing is racing, but as some already said, Vettel completely ignored team orders despite Webber obeying them countless times to help Vettel. Vettel is a selfish p***k, only interested in himself. Team orders are fine when he benefits, but when the shoe is on the other foot its a different story.

Feel sorry for Rosberg too. Merc showed their bias to Lewis there already which is ridiculous this early in the season. If they miscalculated Hamiltons fuel, then that should be his tough luck. Brawn saying to Nico that they were managing Hamilton and he could have gone faster wasn't entirely true. If Hamilton went faster he wouldn't have finished the race. They should have let Nico on and race as his car still had it in it to compete at a decent speed.

Them interviews were quaity though, got to admire Webber's honesty, cuts through the bull

Not the owner but Helmut Marko. Seb was his protégé and he is a frequent critic of mark. Surprisingly diplomatic from him.

Not a hint of irony with the Rosberg comments.

Yep, was thinking of Dietrich Mateschitz

All Vettel can do now is some sort of apology

He is a racer through and through, hes got amazing ability.

From a racers point of views he was dead right to ignore team orders imo

I understand that vettel wanted to win but Vettel didn't exactly win it on a fair fight did he??

Mark has already follow team order and tune down the engine mode where as vettel didn't.. mark's comment when he was in the room after the race says it all

To a certain extent I think merc were alright to hold nico off. It had been lewis applying the pressure and attacking which is why he was on fuel save. That pressure could have got them both more points.

Also they told Lewis to push as hard as possible in the 2nd stint which was about 12 laps, then after a few laps of the third stop he was told to fuel save, which went on for about 1/3 of the race! Calculation f*ck up or what.

When Webber says they were told to turn the cars down and finish the race, does he have time to go fully for it again when he comes out of the pit and realises Vettel is attacking him? Is it as easy as pressing a button?

Both Red Bull drivers were told to use "Multi 21"; RBR's fuel saving engine mode. Vettel did not change, Webber did.

You can't defend Vettel on this one. Webber followed team orders and wasn't racing at full pace. If there were no team orders Vettel would probably have passed him but we will never know for sure.

    .

It's not racing though. If webber has turned down his engine it's just not racing.

Sub "German (speaking)" for "European" and we all pretty much knew it.

Small dial on the front face of the steering wheel. Twist and go basically...

Great to see Vettle beat him in a fair race. People complain about team orders all the time and then when we see some honest racing the team orders are essential.

Missed the begining of the race and no repeats of Alonso going out. What happened there?

No Multi 2-1 means that driver 2 stays in front of driver 1.

He defended his position for a lap...a full lap and pushed Vettle very wide at one stage. He was fully up to racing speed. People have been having a go at Vettle for his lack of overtaking, which was pretty good on this occassion.

All you need to do is read Vettel's body language to see how "fair" his victory was.

It wasn't fair in the end at all. But without team orders we wouldn't have this rubbish.

No Multi 2-1 means that driver 2 stays in front of driver 1.

Not according to team radio, convo with Mark was about the engine mode, told to use "Multi 21".

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,504 ✭✭✭recyclebin

Pity they can't do like in rally and get the team themselves to incur a 10 second penalty. I think they did it to McRae before when he pushed hard when he and the team mate were told to hold position.

So Alonso does have a sense of humour:

Today that I'm not in the podium I'm missing a good moment..! I will try not leave them alone again ... ;))) #goodMood

Its not a fair race though, if Webber obeys team orders and turns down his engine, only for Vettel to ignore this and attack him.

Apparently Vettel has issued an apology. Easy way out really, easy to issue an apology after the incident when the points are in the bag.
