There were reports here during the last RDS game (Cardiff?) of stewards trying to take cans from people.

Ah, I see. Well I'm phenomenally out of the loop when it comes to current events so fair enough.

Presumably that is being pushed from the RDS. Presumably Leinster couldn't care less seeing as how they don't get anything from the concessions. Anyway, but one drink and top up the cup is always an option!

Or hot chocolate whiskies. Christ they're good.

I've never had any issue and I used to bring in a rake of cans to the games.

Maybe it's just my paranoia, so :) I don't think I've ever even tried it!

Was at game and in terrace and few people had cans, never seen anyone taking cans or trying to....

I was driving so wasn't drinking myself so no cans this time :-)

Leinster Rugby get 0 cash from bar sales.

Take from that what you will about stewards not permitting cans...

Couldnt agree more and I am glad we at Ravenhill have terracing all around.

Im an east terrace dweller. Its full long before west terrace or any other. The uploaded image shows east terrace to the right

    Hopefully they review their decision

Wow! Ravenhill looks great. Yea, for atmosphere you cant beat terraces and having them close to the pitch brings that onto the Field and energises the players.
I doubt that they will be reviewing the situation though. I believe Leinster have delivered their brief (terrace in Anglesea only) to the designers and they have finalised their plans for the Anglesea.

Never had any problem with cans either. Generally I buy a pint at the match and then refill cup throughout with a can. Usually I only bring two cans anyway - three pints in all. Though in the winter months I tend to bring a hipflask of whiskey.

Anyway, never been stopped by the stewards, but at same time, I doubt they've noticed. Mind you, at the last game I did notice the stewards in the South Stand going up and down the steps a lot more than usual - don't know if they were keeping a closer eye on things than usual or if there was some horseplay going on further back up the stand behind me.

I was standing in the northern section of Terrace near to the wall of the 'gap' during the Cardiff game, and twice during the match two Sword security guys came in by the barrier in the 'gap' and started asking to remove cans from people.

People were caught napping the first time, because no one had seen it happen in 7 years, but by the second half they had obtained empty plastic glasses and just filled them and binned the cans. A lad I was with had a half full can which he was asked to hand over, so he necked it in his own good time and gave the security lad the empty. Small round of applause etc..

If its a rule, its never been mentioned before, and for as long as they arent trawling each grandstand and just picking on the terrace, they can frig off with themselves if they think they're getting my cans.

Prices are extortionate. People wouldn't bring as many cans if pints weren't 5.80 a touch.

I'm not sure where he gets the idea that there is a small demand for terracing. There is, as awec said, small demand for a terrace where you can't see chunks of the pitch, which is the case if you're in certain parts of the current terrace. But in Ravenhill, Thomond and the Sportsground they are obviously the most popular areas. I can't see how Leinster would be any different???

I'm not sure how LR did their market research but it could be similar to when Ryanair surveyed passengers about how they felt when the passenger in front of you reclined their seat, they used the negative feedback to stop having reclining seats on their planes.

Terracing along the sidelines at least is the way to go.

Thomond has it too and it works fine. Used to love the old East Terrace in Lansdowne Road, fantastic view.

This and they're in plastic glasses and mass poured. No thanks.

And the lad a few weeks ago poured my Guinness in one go. It was still the colour of milky coffee for about 5 minutes after I got it!

If they clamp down on cans, I know for a fact that most of the Pit wouldn't be bothered having a drink in the RDS €5.80 for a warm pint of pi$$y Carlsberg. Feck that!

It's not a question of the RDS losing out on revenue, they wouldn't be getting an income from me anyway!
