Seriously have you read any of the replies in this thread or do you just ignore the ones that do not back up your opinion. I think people have explained the answer to your question very well and in depth and repeatedly over and over again.

Thank you boards for the unfollow option

I'm a bit of a social smoker myself. The odd time when I'm out drinking I'll have a smoke or two, I do it because I enjoy it and I get a really nice buzz from the alcohol/nicotine combination, is it really that hard for some people to comprehend? Yea lousy for anyone who gets addicted but just because YOU can't stop yourself at one cigarette doesn't mean the rest of us can't.

I also don't need to smoke every time I drink, I've gone months without bothering and I don't get any cravings, just like I don't get any cravings for alcohol but I still go ahead and drink that when I choose to. So you can forget your addiction crap because addicted I ain't, sorry if some of ye find that so difficult to believe! :-D

    Adjective noun is adjective...

I'd be a social drinker, I only drink when i'm smoking

Why drink if you're not an alcoholic and have no addiction or urge for it?

If you are drinking every week and you can't socialise without a drink, then you do have an urge for it and to a lesser extent than an alcoholic, you are addicted to it.

What's the problem with people having the odd one? Some people just don't have a tendency to get addicted to things - I'd say I might've smoked a few hundred cigarettes over the last few years but I have no compulsion or craving to smoke, it's just something I do the odd time for the craic while I'm talking to smokers. Doing something different yanno?

Sorry where's the craic  ?

Social smokers smoke to fit in.

Like most people who won't sit there with out a drink in their hands when others around them are drinking.

I never felt the urge to smoke around others who are smoking but hey whatever floats your boat.

I hate the smell of smoke, but if someone wants to smoke then fine leave them to it. What I would like though is to be able to walk in or out or a pub, shop, restuartant etc without some dickhead blowing smoke in my face. Height of disrepect, but I know not all smokers do that.

I find smoking relaxing and drinking too, so together they're super relaxing. They make a nice combination. I don't find it pathetic, it's just a lifestyle chose. I prefer not to smoke during the day, although I believe social smoking is a slippery slope towards everyday addiction.
