2 time robbery victim Phillis McGee from Pettigo in Donegal has just been interviewed by Miriam O'Callaghan on Primetime.

When asked by Miriam if she would like to see the burglers caught in the act, Phyllis proudly declared that she would like to see them shot, and that she 'would enjoy watching them being shot'.

Fair play to her. Not your typical old lady asking God to forgive the poor sinners and praying for their poor souls to be saved from eternal damnation.

Phyllis would make a Minister for Justice.

Anyone else find the bearded guy being interview by Miriam in the pub a bit strange? He said burglars are tapping in to people's phone lines to find out when they are going on holiday?Away with the fairies a bit I think. Also one woman suggested Phyllis should get a mobile phone? She has no electricity in her house!!

Dogs yep, Guards sadly less and less. Pettigoe would have a Garda presence as it's a border town, matters zilch to these guys.

Here is what they are supposed to be up to in Galway..........
    Galway City Tribune

City Mayor Terry O’Flaherty said it was a “sad day” for Galway, that recently bereaved people are afraid to put their relatives’ death notices into newspapers and on local radio because they were being monitored by burglars.

Philis McGee is a bygone of a different, bloodthirsty age. I for one would never enjoy watching someone get shot.

This is the kind of small town parochial thinking that needs to be eradicated from this isle.

I think what the guy was alluding to was people (often through their phones) going on Facebook etc and posting no, boasting that they are off to wherever for two weeks.

But of course by all means mock him for not being as tech literate as you

That was clearly the most important bit if the interview to focus on....

Oh, aren't you so great and humane. I suppose you aren't 78, live on your own, have been the victim of 2 violent burglaries in your own home, in a matter of months. At least the poor old lady spoke her mind. Why should she live in fear like that and let those people have control over her and god only knows how many other people. Maybe if someone with her mentality was in charge, Ireland wouldn't be so lawless.

Bit of a leap in logic there lads and nothing to do with what I was saying.

Also, I'm sure you are aware that the border between Donegal and Northern Ireland runs right through the village of Pettigo. So, historically, the area is no stranger to firearms held both legally and illegally.

Can you tell me the last time some nutter opened fire on the kids in local national school there?

Hold that thought if you ever find your head being smashed off the wall by some intruder in your bedroom in the middle of the night while screaming at you to hand over money you don't have.

Think about the quaint small town parochial thinking as he threatens to tie you to a wall and set fire to your house before he fúcks off.

What would you rather do - Offer him a cup of tea ?

    Couldn't agree more.

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

These scum should be shot between the eyes. So brave when attacking old people, but then cry about their human rights when caught

Fair play to Phyllis and to these 2 lads

Two 'old boys' give would-be burglars the brush-off

TWO brave pensioner brothers have told of how they fought off would-be burglars with a brush at their home.
....The brothers said they were sitting in the living room of their tiny cottage on the town's Main Street when they spotted shadows in the kitchen.

"Jim grabbed the brush and took the shaft to them.

"He gave one of them a good bleaching (beating) and shouted to me to get the gun. They'd be a bit mad to tackle Jim. He might be 75 but he could still go a few rounds with Sonny Liston.

"They ran out of here like bats out of hell; good enough for them for trying to rob two old boys like us who've never done anyone any harm," said Eric...........

In Sligo town, a 94-year-old and a 74-year-old were targeted by raiders. And a Chinese woman in her 60s who runs a takeaway in the town was robbed of her night's takings by two masked men, one armed with a baseball bat, when she arrived home at 1am on Sunday morning.

Two Samaritan workers in their 60s were robbed of a small sum of cash by an attacker armed with a screwdriver as they left the organisation's office in Sligo in the early hours of Saturday.

To be honest I would much our laws were changed so that punishments actually reflected the severity of the crime. Life should mean life and all that.

I would rather we did not turn into a nation of blood thirsty vigilantes, as many here seem to be advocated.

And I can't honestly say I could be emotionless and cold enough to enjoy watching another person die. I hope we never ever stoop to that.

I despise criminals in all their forms from the tax evader to the murderer but I really don't think lowering ourselves to levels I mentioned above will do anything for anyone.

After pressure from lobbist groups. Those cuts should never have been entertained in the first place. Why not look at cutting free legal aid for those on second and subsequent offences instead?

well i dont know the answer to that, but id imagine its probably something to do with a human right for proper legal represantion if you cant afford a barrister yourself to give the defendant an equal chance to defend him/herself in a court. you cant really send someone to court and expect them to know the "technical" side of things
