Random question: does anyone know if the Wii remote plus (with the motion plus thingy built-in) fits in the original wii wheel? Not at home to check it, I'm basically wondering if I could use my zelda skyward sword remote with the original Mario Kart Wii wheel for MK8? Thanks in advance! :)

    It should fit.

The remotes with built in motion plus are exactly the same size as the standard Wii remotes, so yeah.

So Argos were sold out of Metroid and I asked for Kirby's Epic Yarn (same price) instead but no dice. Have to go back tuesday for Metroid :( Did get my 5 euro voucher though.

Just reserved my copy of Mario Kart there in Argos... only a few left apparently!

Anyway there's a special offer on with Argos at the minute, if you buy Mario Kart 8 you get a free copy of Metroid Other M.

Just picked this up in Argos - Much as my inner nerd wanted the shell, I resisted. Free Metroid (never played it), another free WiiU game (Sonic, Pikmin or Party I guess) and €5 Argos voucher is all in all a pretty great deal.

I also have a spare reservation for Naas if anybody wants it.

When I got there they were out of stock of Metroid Other M but gave me a reservation from another store.

Really looking forward to playing this with a few beers when I get home.

Well I won't be playing MK8 today or anytime soon, turned on my Wii U and the pad kept disconnecting and then both the pad and console decided to turn themselves off and now nothing will power on

Uh ohh... Try plugging the Wii U into a dedicated wall socket and not something on a power strip.

Same here. They said it would be back in stock tomorrow so will drop in for it then. Looking forward to playing later now too!

I've read a couple of posts on the interweb suggesting that leaving it unplugged from the wall socket from a few hours resurrected the U. Worth a try? Deepest sympathies in the interim :(

Hi lads. I got a wii u today but I keep getting disconected from the internet (I'm on UPC).

Works fine on xbox, ps3, apple tv etc but after a minute or two of being in the nintendo store or searching for a race on mk8 I get an error that I've been disconnected.

    Anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks

Yes I do, unfortunately the wifi on Wii U is utterly $h1t€. It really is that bad, I had no trouble with the Wii. So how is it possible for newer technology to be worse? Bizarre!

What you have to do is move the Wii U closer to the router. Or you'll have to connect using the Wii LAN adapter. Failing that, I've been looking into "powerline adapters", if it's too far to run a cable. It transfers the signal through your electric sockets. Google it, it sounds pretty cool. There is however another problem going the LAN route. You'll be limited I think to roughly 25MB's, doesn't matter how fast your connection is, mine's 120MB's. It's because of the USB 2.0 connection. It hits a bottleneck. Nintendo really did screw up when designing this console.

I assume it's on account of the gamepad, and all the wireless interference that'd have, but I dunno.
Personally I haven't had much of a problem, but my modem is right on top of the console, it's slow to download considering I've got 200mbit upc, but I put that down to wireless and the fact nintendo don't charge for online.

All wifi 802 is limited to around 30Mb/s, it's got nothing to do with USB 2.0 or Nintendo dropping the ball. A PS4 or XOne on wifi will still be capped at 30Mb on wifi, it's a technology bottleneck.

I'm getting the Error 101-0502 message whenever i try to go online in MK8.

I use unblock us dns on my router - is there an issue with that?

My modem is upstairs and wii u downstairs and no problems to report. I just downloaded wind waker in about 10 minutes as well. And I was thinking god that's way quicker at downloading than my ps3/4/vita which all all used in the same spot as the wii u.

Never a problem playing online either.

    Ow my head....
Played through 50 cc last night and couldn't get my jaw off the floor the entire time. Also haven't seen that much activity on my friends list in a long time!

Good times ahead and might try the online tonight.
