No IR so I would think it would not be much use at night or am I missing something ?
IR is less than useless in a dashcam, it just reflects off your windscreen and you can't see anything past the glare.

I bought one of those Mobius cams posted earlier, I'll install it next week and I'll post a report.

Let us know where you got it, what accessories you got with it (including sdcard type) and how long it took to arrive. There are a few of us in work contemplating getting them for our trucks.
    Thanks.

The seller the reviewer linked to; sucker mount, long usb cable, cig charger; SanDisk Ultra 32GB. I don't expect it for at least a fortnight, the seller is very clear about this.

No. On customs declaration Description of contents is hand written.

Did you specifically ask for that to be put on the envelope? I shipped mine to Parcel Motel in the hope of avoiding the charges.

just a quick 2 thumbs up for ebay seller eletoponline365 who i ordered my mobius off the other day.

very fast dispatch, great communication and sent all my items as a single package (so i didn't get multiple parcel motel charges).

Will these start recording automatically once you start the car (or start moving?)

Yes, when you start the car.

Got the cam today, 8th day since ordering, not bad...

Packaging is very light, which I suppose gives it a higher chance of passing customs undetected.

The microSD card I ordered and the windscreen holder haven't arrived yet.

not sure if it's allowed in-thread and if not I'll throw it up on adverts but I've a smartcam one with 32gb SD card (sandisk class 10).
Bought whole lot for about €130 and will sell it for €80 including postage.
Only reason I've taken it down is because I just bought a htc one and the car dock that goes with it..any more of the those suction cups on my windscreen and I won't be able to see out :)
Its pretty good, night mode I don't think is great but nearly all of them are crap with night mode as it's pretty basic IR mode in them.

AFIK, there is quite a chance that in the parcelmotel you'll get a slip - 'Customs duty payable at ... before delivery can be effected' . If the customs want duty, they WILL get it :(

^^ not sure how that'll work, for Irish Customs it looks like a parcel coming from NI. If you refer to UK customs charges, maybe. I didn't get stung - this time :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,016 ✭✭✭✭vibe666

yup. if something is coming from outside the EU, you should always use the NI Parcel Motel address.

that said, when i ordered mine i forgot, so i might still get stung for mine.

Is that not a bit risky, as if there is a customs charge applied to the delivery to the NI address, ParcelMotel will not pay it and your parcel would be refused?

Your better of investing a bit in a good one, the cheap ones are low res and don't last. Try this thread for some tips:

no, they will hold it and you have to pay the charges.

Having said that, mine just arrived yesterday to the irl parcel motel address and doesn't appear to have been stopped.
