No other July babies?! I've known for a few weeks now, still quite shocked, although we had agreed to start trying. we just didn't think it would happen so soon! Hope all's well Twee. I think I'm about 8 weeks now. All ok here- No major symptoms- apart from tiredness. Looking forward to the appointments/scans etc. The weeks seem to be dragging at the minute!

Another one here. Got confirmation a couple of weeks ago. It took a while on our first so this was shocking as its now a honeymoon baby *insert jokes here* I am way more nervous than I was on my first and I've been getting quite bad back pain the last couple of days which isn't helping the nerves!
First appt though is this Wednesday so I'm both looking forward to that for reassurance and scared witless in case I get bad news.
The first 3 months are just a pain the arse aren't they but hopefully they'll pass soon enough and we'll be in 2013 which is new baby year :-)

I sent off my booking form a couple of days after confirming with the gp so about 3 weeks ago. I had a response within 3 days and my booking appt is tmrw :) and I've a dating scan on Thursday, I was waiting way longer on my first, I think I was about 13 weeks but I'm so glad it's soon as I'm not entirely sure on dates

I rang the rotunda last Monday and got my first appointment and letters in post for Rotunda the 18th Dec. I am going public

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 109 ✭✭MichB2012

Haven't a clue what hospital to go to..everyone is giving mixed reviews of the 3 Dublin hosps. Was thinking of going semi private too..is there any point if you could end up in a public ward in the end?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 304 ✭✭lynda18

I was going to go semi private think after vhi u still pay 1000 but my friends advised not to and it was a longer wait for appointment so i just went public.

Found out on Monday that I'm 3 weeks pregnant. I calculated the due date, which is the 24th of July and it's the same date my Mum passed away last year. I thought that was amazing when I found out. I really think she's sending me a gift but I'm gonna miss not having her around for support and advice. Hopefully everything goes well for everyone :)

Hello, I'm another July 2013. Was waiting patiently for an August 2013 thread to open up as I thought I was only a week or so gone but took another test this morning which puts me at 3+ weeks (5 weeks pregnant).

Have my doctors appointment this evening. Very excited but have no clue as to when I conceived - I have very irregular periods and planning for ovulation has not been easy! Did not think it would happen this fast!!!!

Due mid July, our first baby was born same time last year!! Irish twins. Feel bad our baby's first birthday may coincide with the newborns arrival but hoping the fact that they'll be as thick as thieves in years to come will make up for that! Wasn't expecting to fall pregnant till new year but we're delighted none the less! Hubby thinks its the best thing ever! Anyone else got Irish twins??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 102 ✭✭Skyflyer1234

Me and My Girlfriend found out a few weeks ago :) Baby is due to 04 July apparently but that is more than likely not gonna happen :P Couldn't be happier with the news, already looking for a better job and a better place weeeee :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,096 ✭✭✭xalot

Had my first scan yesterday, doctors had me at 12 weeks but am actually more like 7. They couldn't see a whole lot but got to see the heartbeat which was a huge relief, made all the morning sickness worthwhile!

I've to go back at 12 weeks for a proper dating scan. Am going with the Domino scheme, was so impressed with them. Was in and out in an hour ,including full medical consultation, bloods and scan

Hi lynda18, slight cramping is generally very normal in early pregnancy. Experienced a lot on my first.. Apparently it's related to your uterus stretching and growing. However 'normal' it certainly is all scary!!:) x

Another member of the July 2013 gang....I had missed this thread when I looked so a bit late joining...I'm 11 weeks on Monday, pregnancy no 1 :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10 Twee2011

Now just over 11 weeks so far so good, tired and feel sick sometimes but that's all and the last time that went at 14 weeks so fingers crossed for the same. First scan next Friday and just cannot wait to hear the heartbeat, will really make it real.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 680 ✭✭✭icescreamqueen

Congrats to everyone :). Was just wondering how long anyone who already had a scan or already has their first scan booked had to wait to hear about their first appointment? I'm based in Dublin but want to have my baby at home in Donegal. Rang my local hospital in Donegal and was told a waiting time of at least 10 weeks for the first scan alone! So, because of that I have decided to opt for combined care and have my initial appointments in the Coombe. Have sent in the forms but haven't heard back when my first appointment is yet. Any ideas of waiting times? I'm anxious to know that everything is on the right track, thanks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 191 ✭✭belle_09

Congrats all :) I had a scan last week at 10+2 days, but only happened so soon as I had slight spotting and high blood pressure. I know Kilkenny don't scan until around the 20 week mark so it's a long wait. Had planned on booking a private scan but not going to as I got one last week :) No idea about waiting times for Dublin though, take a look at June 2013 thread there are a good few ladies there based in Dublin.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10 Twee2011

Unfortunately I am leaving this tread, had some spotting over the last few day so went for a scan yesterday (today was suppose to be our 12 week scan) but sadly our little baby had no heartbeat and I had miscarried a few weeks ago. We are devestated of course but knew that there was something wrong. So grateful for our family support and also that we have our little one to keep us distracted. Best of luck to all of you and hopefully I will be back on this forum again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,124 ✭✭✭wolfpawnat

Gutted for you Twee2011. Glad your family are being so supportive. xx

I am 12 weeks today with my second. My first guy is 4 in February, and he is great with other people's babies, so hoping he is going to be as good with a sibling. Nervous, but excited. Like Big Brother, this little one was not planned, but then again, the best things in life seldom are.

    Hey guys,
Mind if i join in? Im 12 weeks tomorrow and have my booking apt in Rotunda next thursday. Have actually signed up with the Domino scheme but keeping the hospital apt as its so close and will then switch.

Just wondering if any of you have had period type pains around 12 weeks. I had cramping all day yeasterday and today my lower tummy/pelvis is quite sore. I have also a sore lower back. please tell me this is normal!! I thought these types of cramps were normally only in the fist month or two?

Welcome Lolly and congrats!! I hope it's normal cause I am the same this week and am 13 weeks. Back has been driving me nuts, I actually had a slight bit of blood but doc maintains it is normal! Had it before, had scan and all grand so am trying not to worry. I feel like my period is due but not as severe just very uncomfortable this week. My tummy aches, not cramps really but hot water bottle is stuck to my tummy this week. Oh the joys of pregnancy! :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28 lolly175

Aw Belle thanks so much for you reassuring reply. I keep telling myself its normal and there is all sorts of weird and winderful things going on inside but its hard not to worry!! Esp as we were ttc for 3 long years and had started on the IVF road when it happened naturally!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 191 ✭✭belle_09

Pregnancy is a scary thing that's for sure. Wow bet you were thrilled after 3 years to get away without IVF. Every little niggle I have I'm worried and sometimes the internet can be the worst place in the world. My doctor will be so sick of me! Bet you can't wait for your appointment next week, I have one too but don't think they will scan. Have to wait to 20ish weeks, i had a scan at 10weeks though so guess that was lucky :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,124 ✭✭✭wolfpawnat

Cramps are very normal at this stage, the uterus is growing, as many of us have noticed with our favourite jeans no longer being able to close, sometimes the stretching causes cramps, I have it a little with this one, but a lot last time. I was freaking out a bit, especially since I had no one to turn to and didn't know about boards for a good bit into the pregnancy.

Welcome Lolli, so glad after all the stress and strain it happened naturally. I was in the Rotunda the last time and even though I am closer Holles Street now I have gone with the Rotunda again the care was very good. Bring a book for next Thursday, it takes about 2-3 hours to go through all the stations.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 680 ✭✭✭icescreamqueen

I had my first scan yesterday at 12 weeks and was overwhelmed to see the little one. I was so worried something might be wrong because I had a bit of spotting and cramps on New Years Day. Thankfully everything is good and I'm overjoyed. It was amazing to send the pic of the scan to my siblings in Oz and London. Next step is telling my Dad! I have been very lucky so far with the pregnancy that I haven't suffered any side effects and haven't put on much weight. Hopefully this will last.
The sonographer confirmed that I'm due on the 24th of July, my Mum's 2nd anniversary which I think is crazy. Hopefully everything is going well for everyone :)

I might as well join in too instead of lurking in the background ;)
I’m 13 weeks pregnant with my first baby and had my 2nd scan yesterday! EDD is 15th July.

Lolly175 I’m doing the Domino in the Rotunda too and I would recommend registering with them first. I had the midwife come to my house within a week and she was brilliant. It was lovely having the initial visit done in the comfort or your own home. The following week I had a scan at 8weeks (dating scan) was in and out in 40mins then had my second scan yesterday and was in and out in 20 mins. I was great especially when you hear all the horror stories of people waiting 2 and 3 hours!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28 lolly175

Girls , thanks for all the lovely replies. It has been a rollercoaster few months, thought we would be going through the dreaded IVF and to find out i was pregnant is unreal. Thats probably why im so freaked out now by all the pains and twinges - im so afraid it will be all snatched away from me!! Like you have all said i know its normal to have pains etc and i need to relax a bit more!

SSuzie, i have registered with Domino but they advised me as its so close to my appointment (only registered with them a few days ago) i was better off sticking with the hospital for that as they coudnt see me any sooner and they will contact me after that.

One thing im not looking forward to is the waiting around at the appointment but be worth it to see all is ok!!!!

Hope you are all having a nice relaxing weekend :)

This is so good to hear. I've been having period type symtoms all along so far. I'll be 15 weeks on sunday. I have the slight cramping/knawing ache in my tummy, my back is killing me, and have the sensation down below. I'm going to the toilet every hour because i'm so scared of the pains. I have my appointment at end of Jan and am dying for it. On the website that i use to keep up to date, they say after first trimester you begin to feel human again. I thought this would be great, but i actually don't feel pregnant anymore. I know i am, but the sore boobs, constant nausea and tiredness let me know i was going through something dramatic, now i'm waiting on the bump to really grasp on this that it is real. I'm on my first, but anyone who is on their second, can you remember feeling this way after first trimester?

Also, does anyone know how hard it is to change hospitals? I'm with holles st, and i'm not really liking that you only get one scan! I'm not getting my first scan until 22 weeks :( I'm DYING to see it :-/

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,297 ✭✭✭kitten_k

Loubian you could always book a private scan. My friend go hers done in the Merrion Fetal Clinic which is on Mount Street, think it was €120

    Hi loubian.
My son was born last july and baby no 2 is due this july!! I remember feeling similiar around this time last year. When the sickness disappeared I began to feel like I wasn't pregnant at all! I should have enjoyed it really as the tiredness came back with a bang towards the end and I was getting very little sleep (and u will need ur sleep)! My bump arrived all of a sudden. The hubby kindly pointed out that, yes, I was getting fat!!! Subtle! I now look back at all the worry and antisipation very fondly. It all adds to the experience. Feel like an auld pro this time and its kinda not the same!! Regarding your scans, have you thought about getting those private ones done? I hated the waiting for hospital scan. Got my 1st to date at 12 weeks and didn't get another till 32 weeks! I antagonized about the private ones as they're 200e+ and some people say they're actually too detailed! In the end I didn't bother and was happy I didn't in the end. It might be for you though. You really want to see updates of baby first time round. Its such a worry!
