Also, why do people slam on the brakes when you go to overtake them when there is absolutely nothing coming from the other direaction ?

Had 2-3 people do it to me this week and it's bloody dangerous and it has me scratching my head

Brew dog punk IPA, place it in the fridge. You don't even leave the house afterwards.

I don't want to sound like your mother, but you should be checking it regularly, weekly or fortnightly at the most.

I do check it alright but not enough given the relatively huge miles I have done the last few weeks, 4k miles is quite a bit for me so will be doing it every few weeks from now on.

It's part of the weekly/fortnightly routine of cleaning the cars in my house :) Oil, coolant, lights, clean rubbish out of car, wash car, vacuum.

My aul fella's e90 is like that too. Would seriously put me off buying the car, as good an all as it is. You can't beat a dip stick imo. Too many sensors and electronics now-a-days, the F10 has to be linked to a computer to wind back the rear calipers ffs!

I service my micra every 5k miles, my laguna every 4k miles and the focus every 6k miles. Along with a new oil filter, air filter and sparkplugs at the same time. I get the parts at trade price so why not.

Why every 5k? I mean like how do you work out too service it after every 5k and not every 6 or 7k? I never really understood that.

Why not? A oil change is the biggest thing to keep a engine going forever. From reading some posts here I would hate to be buying a car of you if it dont even have a dipstick. I reckon the only dipstick is the one behind the wheel.

Ah jaysus, I wasn't saying that. I just wondering how to know when to change the oil, like how do you work out its 5k, is it because it a small engine?. The Yaris isn't for sale. and lastly your opinion of me doesn't define who I am. :) I also don't give a sh1t. :)

Seriously get your da or boyfriend to have a look at it. A Yaris is a good little motor.:)

If you can observe a difference after topping up the oil it would seem that it has been ran too low, the twin spark alfa engines not like being run low on oil. It best to check oil level after every second fill of benzine. I would also change oil every 10/12k kms in the twinspark but if car is burning alot over 4000 miles than probably no point now in introducing regualr oil changes. The intefval A Romeo advice is too long in my view. Sounds like damage been done, hope not but back in year 2010 friend bought 147. was nice car, after 6 months he ring me and say garage say needs variator, (€500 for job, belt, pump ) he go there as tick tick tick noise. When he buy car receipt for belt and variator some time recent with car so I think not likely the variator is faulty. I go to listen to car, it engine bearings :( Can only think car had been run lwo on oil as friend check every week and top up required bi month. That 147 went to car garage in sky at that time.

In fairness most manufacturers recommend a service every 10k , so people deciding to change oil etc earlier are just being very conscious of their cars, and trying to maintain them at an optimum level?

Bit of a stretch if you don't bother getting your Mum to service her car for 120k miles, but some people are very exacting and like to keep their cars in good shape.

I keep track of required changes for my car like spark plugs and their intervals, and warn my mechanic they are due

Different strokes for different folks I guess :) Also depends on how you view your car, someone who simply sees it as a mechanism to get from a to b will have a very different view than someone who is a real enthusiast, uses their car to chill out, etc
