From Wednesday the 17th-30th. Time to stock up for Xmas!! Guinness at €1 a pop is particularly good. Plus Dunnes are doing a €5 voucher per €50 spent for their Christmas loyalty card mailing until the 27th.

Other offers include slabs of Heineken and Coors Light at €30 and €24 for 18 cans of Bulmers.

They are also doing a 5 for a tenner world beer offering, too many to list here.

Anyone know the BB date on the Guinness?

Does anyone know if €24 for 24 cans of 50cl is the lowest these trays will fall too? Even coming up to Christmas?

I have never seen the slabs for Guinness to go below €1 a can. I remember I got 4 of them last Christmas for that price in Dunnes alright. In previous years I paid €30 and €27 a slab which were the cheapest anywhere at the time.

PS there is guaranteed to be a big excise increase in the budget in the first week of December so this may be one of the last chances to get them at €1 a pop.

I've yet to see the 50cl cans of Heineken, Guinness etc go below €1.00 a can.

24 for €24.00 is the best deal I've seen.

Hope Tesco do it before chirstmas - they always have a far better range at the 24 for 24

You'll have to check instore yourself but this is not short dated stock. I am sure they will be good through the first half of 2013. I'll be checking myself Wednesday.

+1, guinness is rare enough to see on offer, and far rarer to see at €24 than say heineken.

Beamish was €6 for 6x500ml last saturday in lidl, it might come up again, it was one day only.

They have to raise €1.25billion in taxes. They are committed to not raising Income Tax or Corporation Tax, and after increasing VAT to 23% last year they said there would be no more increases in VAT. That leaves Excises Duties as the sole major tax head that they have given no commitments on and Michael Noonan has already indicated that excise duties will get a hammering. Increases in alcohol excises will be done under the cover of curbing drinking etc.

If they break the € barrier, it'll be a first.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,875 ✭✭✭kn

PS I just checked the terms and conditions on their website and drink is not excluded from the extra loyalty christmas points scheme. So if you buy €100 of drink (four slabs are €96) you will get €10 in vouchers in the christmas mailing. So that can work out at a net circa 90c a can......better than a kick in the teeth I guess.......

The same as every other supermarket in Ireland - 10.30.

P.s. have a read of the thread title. Offer is Dunnes not Tesco

Before everyone rushes out to buy their drink the offer doesnt start until tomorrow (17th of October)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,683 ✭✭✭✭TheDriver

has anyone ever noticed that 5 years ago these would all be sold out but nowadays they are rarely sold out because people don';t have the cash to bulk buy?

These are the legal hours they are permitted to sell
    · 10:30am to 10pm Monday to Saturday
    · 12:30 to 10pm Sunday

This does not mean they have to sell at that time. I often see the offie section in my tesco closed off before 10pm, probably to allow time for people to continue shopping and pay 20mins later or so.

Heineken usually sells out in my local tesco when on offer, not sure about dunnes. The guinness is usually last to sell out in my tesco, but coming closer to christmas it will probably sell better.

    Great spot OP.

Could be the last of the €1 a can in this country, I fear the worst in December, will have to check the recommended load capacity for the car, think she should take 10 crates before any major stability problems, will keep me merry for the miserable months after the budget :D.

Yes I will take as much as I feel like purchasing, it's not Soviet Russia we are living in where we have ration books for alcohol purchases, if your not in on the day to purchase then tough $hite :D. To be fair to them, with Dunnes and Tesco there's normally a good couple of days supply in every shop, but it's dog eat dog I am afraid when it comes to booze.

Yeah. I got 4 slabs today (and got €10 back on the value club card with over €100 spent). The BB date on them is 29/06/13.

So you can stock up for xmas in confidence.

Thats pretty good. Its not that important anyway, its not like its raw chicken with a use by date. I have seen lads in the beer forum talking about drinking beers ~10 years past their BB.

I remember they previously applied a 4 slab quota but there was nothing on the pricing today to indicate any quota. They didn't bat an eyelid when I pulled up with a trolley with 4 slabs today.....nothing stopping me doing the same tomorrow of course.......

18 cans for 24 bucks is still a great deal, they should be costing you in or around €40.

Two weeks ago Tesco had them at 12 cans for €15.00. Rarely 1 for 1.

    Still gonna buy some !!!

18 packs for €24 appears to be the standard value offer for Bulmers. I can't recollect them ever being 1 for 1.
