Appantly he didn't pull the parachute early, it was the plan to deploy it at that height.

Without a chute and use a wingsuit instead. Then land in a field full of cardboard boxes.
    Level 10 awesomeness!!

Back when I were a lad, we used to dream of cardboard boxes.

We had to jump naked, blindfolded and land on a sharp pile of rusty nails covered in salt.

Was going to ask this, did anyone make out the few words he said before the jump ?

Nobody said it so I will.

He said, "I can see my house from here"

Though some thought he said, "Hey Steve, I can see your house from here so I won the bet, you better have the 50 bucks by the time I land".

    etc...
    etc...

With all due respect to Felix Baumgartner, Copper Face Jacks is still the biggest dive on Earth.

Why is Milton from Office Space overseeing it all?

Erm... That was Kettinger. Probably the only person on the planet qualified to do that job.

We were watching it in our JOC. (Joint Operations Center: Think military amphitheater with multiple huge TVs on the far wall). If WWIII had started, we'd have probably asked the guy calling it in to hold.

My guess is the reason he was able to break the speed of sound was the gravitational effect of his balls pulling the Earth to him. Earlier comments about knowing what watching the first rocket launches would have been like are probably accurate.

    NTM

doubt he can. I like this stunt he pulled off in Malmo, parachuted onto a building and then base jumped from it.

He can't. That's why he's retiring after this jump. :)

Probably a good idea, but how will he be able to deal with his adrenaline cravings after that?! :D
