From reading about it looks like it had more to do with Dunbar and Stroman looking like they can get the job done opposite Norman. Still a bit surprised though as I though Scandrick would be good for depth at the position.

With running backs dropping like flies, Jamaal Charles and Adrian Peterson both in for tryouts today. I don't think either has anything left so they're probably better off waiting till cut day and picking up someone else's rejects to boost depth at the position.

Depends on what type of shape they are in but if either are match ready I would take them as a roster addition. No harm in having that type of experience on the side.

I thought he was excellent in the game the other night. I like what he brings to the team and I think that he can be a success. We've a decent offensive line and if Peterson has anything left he could be a lynch pin for success because of the run option with Smith and Thompson's danger in pass catching. I see alot of 2 rb sets for our team.

So what do you reckon, will Gruden finally get a win in week 1 or will it be another year where they come out of the gates looking totally lost?

Redskins media/beat reporters seem very optimistic whereas the national media are kind of pessimistic about the team's chances. I don't know who's right so haven't a clue how the seasons going to go.

The one thing I will say is that I prefer to go on history and records as opposed to 'if x happens or if these guys stay healthy, then they can win 10 games etc.'

Nice start. Happy with that. Don’t have game pass this year so relied on Twitter and red zone for updates and they weren’t showing much of it on red zone so I didn’t see too much of the action but they seemed to play well on both sides of the ball. Nice to have some sort of run game for a change. Hopefully they keep that up.

Peterson and Thompson make a mean 1-2. We have a much better balance as well as teams have to respect Smith's ability to scramble.

Cardinals though were pretty horrible. One thing for sure though is we can definitely compete in the Division Cowboys and Giants were both horrific yesterday and Eagles struggled mightily on Thursday night.

As with every game this season, I can only go on what Twitter is saying and whatever they show on Redzone but that sounded like it was awful. Back to the days of the running game going for 0, 1 or 2 yards and the offence as a hole being pretty pedestrian.

Last season Peterson ran for over a hundred yards in week 1 then did nothing afterwards. I hope today isn't an omen of what's to come with him.

We were shocking on third downs and in the Red Zone, couldnt get anything going in the run game and Smith was hurried or rushed constantly.

Really disappointed in the performance especially after last week but Considering the Rams dismantlement of the Cardinals yesterday maybe last week was just us beating a really bad team.

On a side not Mahomes... wow ... Cousins had a crakcer as well.

Anyone who follows this thread will know my biggest hate with regards to the Redskins is when they have the lead and go into prevent defence mode.

Today they have the kind of lead at HT that is when they’d usually do it but today they’re facing Aaron f#^king Rodgers who feasts on prevent defences.

If they don’t continue playing the traditional defence that has them in this position, someone needs to get fired.

My two pennies worth.We played well mostly all over the field. Offence and defence. Ran it well, threw it well, defended well. Actually defended excellent. Norman was excellent, say what you want about him but he's a true leader on the field. We had 6 Qb hits and 4 sacks in comparison to no sacks and only 2 hits on smith.

Peterson has shut up his critics yesterday 120 yards on 19 carries. After yesterday you'd have to wonder what the hell was going on against the Colts. For me though the key was this we moved the ball well between the numbers. Davis, Thompson, Reed, Crowder more involved as well. Only downside four of our last five possessions we went for 3 and outs. I know we were running clock and protecting the ball but you cant do that.

So another national game that the Redskins didn’t turn up for.

I really don’t think Jay Gruden is a good coach. He had 2 weeks to get them ready for this game and from what I saw, they didn’t look prepared at all.

I watched most of it and we just didn't play well. At all. I agree with you on Gruden he hasnt impressed me as a coach at all.

To be fair though I think this Saints team is good, really good and them getting Ingram back makes them even better. They could win it all this year.

Just another couple of things, we did have some chances last night, but Smith made a terrible throw for the interception after we moved the ball into position well a score there and it would have been interesting but we defensively never looked like we could stop them all night. That was the more worrying thing for me.

All that said, we could still win this division.

Absolutely, the Giants actually look like the best all round team.

Wouldnt be surprised if they win the Division, the Eagles are all over the place and personally I think Dallas are much more overrated than the Giants. Barkley is every bit as good as Zeke and OBJ is better than all the Dallas Wr's combined.

So we have a decent chance to win this division.

Apparently the reason why Josh Norman was benched at the start of the second half last week because he refused to take off his headphones during Gruden's half time talk. There's never really a time for being a diva but if you're going to go down that road, at least do it when you're at the top of your game not when you're having the worst start to a season of your career and the quality of your play is going downhill.

Strange team this year. Some weeks they don't turn up (Indy, NO) and in the other weeks they blitz the hell out of the opponents in the first half and everything looks great but then they make us sweat by letting them back in after the break.

I know the other teams have coaches too and adapt to what's happening but I'd love to know why they can't carry the first half performances into the second half.
