Typical. Deflect and engage in whataboutery but never acknowledge the central issue. A day will come perhaps when the powers that be in Scotland instruct your club to live up to their responsibilities, they don't appear to be capable of doing it on their own.

No deflection just facts if you did some research you would see that. I have already made my feelings on reporting Lennon clear so enough of the garbage. Maybe have a look at your own.

Classless as well my sensitive friend. The following wouldn't be the first time either.

Lennon is doing all he can to face down the bigots. Will the SFA play their part, will the Rangers FC board?

The garbage is from you pal. One of your tactics is to come out with some little anecdote with nothing to substantiate it and we're supposed to take your word for it. Garbage indeed.

Our own board by the way have been taking on perceived trouble makers in our support, some would say they're being overly harsh. So again not sure what you're trying to get at bar your usual deflection tactics.

Difference being he made it in front of his own fans

He made a "get it up ya" gesture for his own fans?? An inflammatory gesture is inflammatory gesture once made in public. Fair play to the Motherwell fans for showing such restraint in the face of such blatant provocation.

Another rule that doesn't seem to apply to Rangers is fan encroachment onto the pitch. How many times will their fans enter the field of play before action is taken??

If he was standing in a hedge he could claim he was impersonating the rangers manager

Really you lot are going to lecture about encroachment or about celebrations yer having a laugh.

So then if the case is its an inflammatory gesture and you congratulate the motherwell fans for restraint. I take it you will congratulate the thousands and thousands of Rangers fans who showed restraint when lennon made inflammatory gestures and if you want Dorrans done you will want Lennon done as well

See normally I'd agree that a manager shouldn't bother engaging with opposition fans. However in this instance I think Neil Lennon knows exactly what he's doing.

The bigotry and bile that he had to put up with during his career in Scotland was vile and dangerous. Also it wouldn't have been tolerated in England or other countries for example.

So if Lennon just ignores it, then it's simply swept under the carpet. By facing it down he's deliberately drawing attention to it and he's letting the bigots know that not only that they won't stop him plying his trade in Scotland but that he will turn their bile against them and use it as a motivational tool for himself and his team.

Lennon is a clever and courageous man, and all right thinking people should and will be at his back supporting him. He's fighting the good fight, more power to him.

Agree and disagree on different points. I agree he's a clever man and knows what he is doing. I disagree he is drawing attention to the issue as such, he has just brought attention on himself and a potential SFA ban. He has actually let the fans away with anything they were doing by reacting to them - if he hadn't reacted and had made a complaint about any sectarian abuse he was getting, it would have been facing the issue.

Has he even said he was getting sectarian abuse? Nothing I've read to date has any quotes from him saying such.

Those threats on Facebook should be easy to trace and the people responsible should face serious charges.

How many rangers fans dialled 999 over Pedro lashing them out of it?

He's making it clear to the bigots that he's back and he's here to stay as long as employers want him and nothing to do with the bigots. When he left last time when Celtic manager he didn't want to admit that the bigots were a factor in him leaving. He has since said it was and that is shocking, an absolute disgrace in a so called modern democratic society. I guess 24 hour surveillance on his family took its toll after 4 years. He's back and he should be allowed to do his job without sectarian prejudice and threats.

Neil Lennon isn't the problem here, the bigots are the problem and it's time Scotland as a society grew up and dealt with the bigotry issue properly. Neil Lennon is highlighting the issue, he's got the courage to do that, others in other walks of life perhaps can't afford to take such a stance. He deserves our support and admiration. He is doing the state of Scotland some service, so long as the powers that be wake up and tackle the bigots at long last.

He hasn't though, that's my point. His reactions took the focus off any sectarianism (assuming there was any, he never said there was) and all the focus is on his actions and the resulting ban that he will (probably) get. He hasn't help address any bigotry or sectarianism by reacting how he did.

Like I say, I have a huge amount of sympathy for him with the ****e he has had to put up with in Scotland, in particular death threats, physical attacks and people giving his family abuse. I can also understand how he would react in the way he does, I'd find it hard not to react like that myself. But the fact of the matter is that it won't help the general fight against bigotry/sectarianism in Scottish football one jot.

I disagree. It should shed light on the issue and if Scotland as a society is serious about finally getting to grips with bigotry his highlighting of the issue will help. If they fail again to deal with the bigots, it won't be for the want of trying on Lenny's part. He has done his bit. It's over now to the authorities, the SFA and the Rangers FC board to face up to their responsibilities.

Gentlemen, this mod warning still applies:

As for the state of this thread, the thread is for discussing soccer not etymology, sectarianism or posters in other threads. That line of conversation ends now. The thread is alos not a place for fans of rival teams to come in and have a good laugh at this team's expense, this rule goes for literally every team's superthread on the forum before anyone gets their knickers in a twist about their "bants" being curtailed", if you don't like that rule find another forum. This is not the first time this has been stated on here.

The discussion has been extremely heated over the last few pages over Lennon and Sectarianism and has devolved into trading personal insults and point scoring. They will be reviewed and if necessary, cards and bans issued on either side and the thread temporarily closed if neessary. Do not discuss the topic further.

Jacks' red card has rightly been overturned so he's available for Hearts.

Rangers team for today versus Hearts. One change Wallace comes in for Hodson

RANGERS: Foderingham; Tavernier, Cardoso, Alves, Wallace; Candeias, Dorrans, Jack, Windass; Miller, Morelos.

SUBS: Alnwick, Wilson, Hodson, Rossiter, Kranjcar, Pena, Hardie.

Confident that we can get the three points today. Hope we don't see a repeat of the injustices that the team were subject to last week.

The board simply need to start looking for a player that can break open these kind of games.

Hearts have no intention to make anything happen (I'm gonna jinx it I guess ;) ) and we can't break them down.

That said, if Pedro is gonna sign a player in Herrera and then not play him... Why bother ?

Team for today v Ross County

One change Kranjcar comes in for the injured Windass

RANGERS: Foderingham; Tavernier, Cardoso, Alves, Wallace; Candeias, Jack, Dorrans, Kranjcar; Miller, Morelos.

SUBS: Alnwick, Hodson, Wallace, Rossiter, Dalcio, Herrera, Pena.

Miller starting again is a joke. Spend a lot of money on Pena and Herrera but they can't seem to get a chance at starting ?

Yeah, given the choices that we have, I'd start him on the bench. We could bring him on late in the game, if we need to find a goal. He'd be a really good option from the bench.

    1-0 Morelos with a header

Morelos again after the Ross county Keeper makes a pigs ear of it

Butch really is a senile old fool.

Not a red according to him:

Even McCoist couldn't bring himself to saying it was a red.

Tidy finish. Good stuff because I didn't have faith in that defence keeping Ross County from scoring another one.
