Finished 3-0 took the foot off the gas in the second half and it was really a training session. Second week in a row a man has been sent off against us

    The Soap Opera continues

    http://sport.stv.tv/football/clubs/rangers/236632-rangers-ian-black-accused-of-betting-against-own-team-by-scottish-fa/
Rangers midfielder Ian Black has been accused of betting against his own club on three occasions by the Scottish Football Association.

The former Inverness CT and Hearts man is accused of putting money on his team to not win matches between March 4, 2006 and July 28, 2013.

Black is also accused of betting on a further ten games in which the club he was playing for were involved in, as well as betting on a further 147 games not involving his team.

It is not known which specific fixtures he is accused of placing bets on which involved the clubs he was registered with.

Roy Greenslade blog on the relationship between Rangers and The Daily Record in recent years, with Rangers fans and Record readers being kept in the dark and fed a load of spin.

I think the punishment should depend on whether he tried to influence results or not. Betting on your own team to lose looks bad, I imagine it was when certain information like injuries wasnt picked up by the media/bookies.

    This is interesting

Most fans thought they would be backing Green & Co for some reason

He shouldn't be playing from now until this is either cleared or he is punished imo.

Why did fans think that? I havent read anything to suggest they would. This EGM should be good, alot of cowboys need running!

The club hasnt reacted yet, abit strange given the gravity of the case, but I think it would be best regardless of whether he's done anything wrong to withdraw himself from selection until things are concluded.

Personally, I dont think he's done anything wrong in terms of fixing matches but he was on a slippery slope and those rules need to be enforced strongly. I think the SFA will make an example of him because they couldn't do much in that incident with the Motherwell player

Charles Green has agreed to stand down as a consultant at Rangers and sell his shareholding in the club.

No champions league music for Green!

I wonder if Black had a few quid on that happening!

Former international striker Kevin Kyle says gambling on football games is widespread among Scottish players.

    Unintentional whistleblower!

I don't think he's saying anything we didn't already know there to be fair.
Black's position of betting against his own side simply puts him in a position where he's an easy target.

Doesnt take a "Big Phil" to point out that your trouncing of league 1 sides is the result of unsustainable spending rather than just a larger budget and it looks like someone is going to have to pay the piper again one way or the other.

You and I both know that's not why it was said about three names not being happy after his rants

hes not happy because he never is. I find thats often the case with people who call themselves "journalists" and specialise in Scottish football

Not today especially but his rants about Daly have been laughable

What's he been saying? I don't bother reading what he says, the rare times he has something worthwhile to say it gets picked up by other sources anyway

Ach it was when Daly first signed he would be hated by Rangers fans and he was a traitor etc.
I don't really read him myself discussing something with him on local radio here a few years back was enough.

If he has been listening to or watching our games the receptionDaly has been getting is fantastic

Ranting on about how Daly would never be allowed to be true to his "culture" and suchlike at Ibrox and he'll never be happy or successful.
Oddly, the extent of Irish culture was exemplified by asking how people would react if Daly drove up to Ibrox in an Ireland shirt while blasting the Saw Doctors out through his windows.

Yes Phil, because that's true Irishness right there!

The irony of trying to portray Rangers fans as bigots by showing his own bigotry is lost on Phil. I'd usually say people like him should be ignored but in his case he should be called out and shown up for what he is.

But if an unfair argument by him, anyone blasting out the saw doctors deserved some abuse

Ach, I used to love the Saw Doctors, once, a long long time ago...
