Where did Rhodes end up? And for how much?

Blackburn, something like £4.5m up front, rising to £8m with addons.

He's good but not that good. Levein was right, people are paying well over the odds for strikers this transfer window

read a quote somewhere, maybe green brigades site, where he pretty much begged celtic to sign him haha

Considering we had to wait until after we got UCL football to entice him, I dont think he was doing much begging. If he has his heart set on coming here and proving himself at a higher level then I'll be happy to have him. Sounds like he's coming here with the right attitude which is important.

I signed a €25,000 a week contract last year to play for Celtic..... but for no amount of begging could I get them to sign it too. :D

    I seen that :D

    EDIT

Miku Fedor on a season long loan seems to be the next signing.

Anyone can edit Wikipedia though. Reliable media sources on Twitter are better for getting the story before it gets published on a website

Been digging on the #Miku Fedor to #Celtic story. I understand he's not going to Swansea and has been pulled from squad for #Getafe v Depor
    Alex O'Henley ‏@OHenleyAlex

#Miku scored against #RealMadrid and #Valencia last season. The Venezuelan would be a decent acquisition for #Celtic

Was there a fee involved with signing Efe Ambrose?

We did better against Atletico Madrid than multi billion pound Chelski did! :P

    Grant Russell ‏@STVGrant

Nicolas "Miku" Fedor scored two goals against Real Madrid for Getafe last season. One-year loan to Celtic http://bit.ly/PE0xPN

Inverness have taken Andre Blackman on loan from Celtic until January

Next deal to be done is...

    http://sport.stv.tv/football/clubs/celtic/188126-celtic-make-bid-to-real-mallorca-for-belgian-striker-marvin-ogunjimi/

    EDIT
    stephen.mcgowan ‏@mcgowan_stephen

Belgian journalists say Mallorca moved the goalposts on a fee for Marvin Ogunjimi after Celtic reached the Champions League.

Lawwell wont do the deal on principle me thinks

    Well Efe Ambrose is official:

Nothing on Miku Fedor yet, but looks to be a done deal. So we got our striker and CB, both internationalists which is good news, and gladly we didn't end up with Michael Owen in there instead. Hope the two new bhoys settle in well and provide us with solid options.

I know nothing about the guys signed but at least we've strengthened the positions we were short in.

Still rumours we're in for a keeper tonight and a free agent striker tomorrow. I won't be getting too excited about Michael Owen until i see him paraded in another teams kit!

Lennon says another striker on the way in, but doesn't have to be today.

The physio better get his table ready for a new long term friend, Michael Owen.

You've signed Lubos Kamenar from nantes, on loan for a year with option to buy, he's a keeper.

    Could be John Carew maybe?

I rather the 3rd choice keeper be Robbie Thomson. At least he cant bide his time with the u20 squad and playing.

From Lennons comments on SSN, it look like we are into free agent country since the transfer deadline doesnt apply to the business we want to do.

    http://sport.stv.tv/football/clubs/celtic/188141-celtic-land-slovakian-goalkeeper-lubos-kamenar-on-season-long-loan/?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter

Celtic have signed FC Nantes goalkeeper Lubos Kamenar on a season-long loan.

Overall, I'm very happy with the business that Celtic has done so far this transfer window.

    Out

Andre Blackman, defender (Inverness Caledonian Thistle, loan)
Daryl Murphy, forward (Ipswich Town, loan)
    Ki Sung-Yeung, midfielder (Swansea City)
    Glenn Loovens, defender (Real Zaragoza)
Cha Du Ri, defender (Fortuna Dusseldorf)
    Daniel Majstorovic, defender (AIK)
    Niall McGinn, midfielder (Aberdeen)
    Efrain Juarez, midfielder (Club America)
    Morten Rasmussen, forward (Midtjylland)
    Lewis Toshney, defender (Dundee, loan)
    Greig Spence, forward (Raith Rovers)
    Christian McKenna, forward (Airdrie United)
    Mark Wilson, defender (Bristol City)
James Keatings, forward (Hamilton Academical, loan)
    Darren O'Dea, defender (Toronto)
    Richie Towell, defender
    Dominic Cervi, goalkeeper

    In

    Efe Ambrose, defender (Ashdod, undisclosed)
Fraser Forster, goalkeeper (Newcastle United, undisclosed after loan)
Nicolas Ladislao Fedor Flores, striker (Getafe, loan)
    Lubos Kamenar, goalkeeper (Nantes, loan)

To do all that business, retain all the key players and get Forster permanent was great. Suppose we have to wait and see what Miku & Ambrose can do.

When you see the list it's incredible the number of outs. Just goes to show how much deadwood we were carrying, and how much wages will be freed up. It's the right way to run the club, especially these days, and credit to Lenny and the board for making the tough decisions. Ki in particular was a spectacular bit of business, £4m+ profit for a player though very talented, one I think we will barely miss given our existing midfield.

Will be interesting to see if we pick up any frees.

Any news on who this mystery free transfer striker is that's coming in before the CL deadline on Monday. Del Piero still hasn't signed for Sydney City yet afaik.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,529 ✭✭✭✭Dempsey

I doubt we will hijack the Del Piero deal, I doubt he'll come back to renegotiate and I doubt Lawwell will meet his demands. Going by descriptions Miku is similar in his style of play aswell.

I'd say it's most likely Owen. He'll be a good influence on the Bhoys. Apparently none of them know diddly squat about horses.

Michael Owen would surely prove popular with the lads providing insider tips on the nags and what not, also he'd bring with him some new streams of revenue via AON Insure.ie and the like:D.

I can't understand how that guy made so much money out of football, he's been crocked for years.

Lennon ruled out Owen during the week, thank f*ck!
