Think so, it's supposed to rain tonight, so muggins here will, in all likelihood be running mattresses and blankets into the house in the lashings of the rain at 3am.....

And then go to work a couple of hours later...

Had a bit of a humbling moment today. Was giving Castlevania Legends a quick go. It's not terrible, it's just boring with very little imagination put into the levels. However as I played it the really dull level design reminded me of something. I couldn't put my finger on it. Then it came to me....

It reminded me of the last two games I made :(

We are talking about old video games, also anything arcade related with a lot of associated matters of gaming culture across the globe.
These do not preclude the discussion of Pony's, drunkenness and cross dressing, while playing on a pony and drunk...

You could hire Brian May to play his, imo perfect, soundtrack live while you play the game

Here's some more utter bull**** from the XBox One camp. Games will be region locked.

    http://www.digitaltrends.com/gaming/microsoft-answers-the-question-of-xbox-one-region-locks/

That's a massive step backwards into Nintendo land after the PS3 was region free (except for Persona 4 Arena but that worked out great :/ ) and the 360 being mostly region free on a lot of games.

    Hey!
I like Nintendo land, of course if you're allergic to mushrooms you're fecked!

Anyone know if the Skeleton Sega Saturn is harder to mod than the usual ones?

It would be a crime to mod one of them - they run at 60hz stock. Just buy Japanese games for it :D

So, anyone looking forward to either of the two new ways forward into gaming goodness?
Or do you dread the next step to where they'll both expect contracts for your souls ownership, signed in your blood, as payment for access to DLC, demos and the patch so your game is actually playable on day 1.
Me, I was scoffing at the PS4 and the "burlesque" approach to showing off the tasty bits of the machine, a corner here, a vent there, a peek-a-boo of a slot someother place.
Then the comprehensive debut of the Xbox One, it's complexion immaculate as it stood in the lights, crowds surrounding it in the throes of antici.....pation, before telling us over the showing just how it's going to screw us, without buying us dinner first, and then the rounds of explanations from MS's top men, describing in better detail how we are to be screwed.
The PS4 doesn't seem so bad now, I mean, how lousy can Killzone 4 be? Take comfort that they are bound to have gotten it right by now.
Not to mention the opportunity we'll all have to buy the best of the PS1 and PS2 all over again from the PSN! Woo Hoo! Ico in 4k!

I was considering posting this in either the Playstation or Xbox forum, but figured folk might get upset and pelt my house with copies of Aliens Colonial Marines, stank the place up.
I was considering even posting it in the Sega forum, but no one would have read it!

Sega is a bustling metropolis of discussion. You just can't read any of it as I banned you years ago :pac:

Looks like I'll be buying a ps4. Not really bothered with any of them at this point at all tbh though. So it definitely won't be a day one purchase...or even a year 1 purchase.

I was playing a spot of score attack in State of Emergancy on PS2 with a mate of mine the other night. Neither of us have played it since about 2004(ish). Turns out though, it's still great craic. Dumb as all hell, but still great craic.

I was chatting to some Tech orientated but non game playing friends about the Xbox One over the weekend. The consensus amongst them was that it is cool, you can plug your sky box into it and then talk to it and more importantly resistance is futile, Microsoft will bring superior resources to bear and everyone who bought a Wii will buy it.

My pleas that Xbox One was all bull$h1t and that no one needed to spend €400 on additional and unnecessary box to watch tv were dismissed.

I'm deeply concerned for the human race as a result.

Nuke me as well. I'll be getting both the PS4 and Xbox One :):o
But that's purely as I'm a gadget freak.

And you'll buy two of each! ;)

I'll get excited about them when there's actually something to look forward to on them. So far we have seen the tech which is pointless if there's no software to run on it. PS3 showed some games but when they will be out is anyones guess. I'll wait until E3 but as it stands most AAA games now I could gladly miss out on.

    Yeah, probably :o
And then turn the light switches on and off 3 times and turn around clockwise and leave the room :o

    No current Sky box has the tech to interface with the One as demo'd by MS {HDMI 1.4a-cec}
No current UPC box has the tech yet either. So box boxes will rely on the much inferior ir-blaster method.

    All of the big tv companies want to be the center of your sitting room, all offering their own on-demand services & expensive branding etc. None of them will want their services fronted by a third party {MS in this case}, & I wouldn't expect much support for the One & it's seamless integration into your living room by any of the big tv companies {UPC, Sky}

The Xbox One won't have anywhere near the level of tv content over here that it will have in the US, we'll have a by far reduced package available to us on launch.

Your mates might want to rethink their approach :)

I raised all the above points to which they answered is sort of robotic tone that Microsoft is so big and has so much money they will do deals with everyone, also You'll be able to talk to your tv.

After the MS conference i really thought MS might have shot themselves in the foot with this one but if the reaction of my mates is anything to go by it will be a marketer's wet dream and sell billions of units.

Incidentally MS have since announced that the TV functionality is US only at launch. Meaning Europe and Japan are there for the taking by PS4.

Imagine the cost of asking Sky to r&d a new box that integrated with the one via hdmi-cec, bypasses all the Sky branding, & allowed the One to control it as per the demo. Then asking them to replace every single customers Sky box, in order to enable them to have a better One experience...then asking UPC to do the same. The One will work well in the US, not over here.
After the MS conference i really thought MS might have shot themselves in the foot with this one but if the reaction of my mates is anything to go by it will be a marketer's wet dream and sell billions of units.

It won't work like that over here though, your mates are in for a surprise if they think the One will function in their living rooms as it did in the MS conference. Plus again, we have very little content that as compared with the US market.
Incidentally MS have since announced that the TV functionality is US only at launch. Meaning Europe and Japan are there for the taking by PS4.

I'm certainly not adverse to giving out about Sony, but MS has made this easy for them this time around. Plus with PS+, MS have it all to do to convince me the One is the way to go.
